The Flash television series has been great so far, and Grant Gustin’s portrayal of the character has been one of the best representations of the character on television to date. This figure is based on the third season, with a slightly different costume and updated logo showcasing the gold lightning bolt and white circle. The costume itself is nicely detailed and sculpting, and features sculpted texture on the chest and arms, with a smooth area on the upper chest that the logo is sculpted on. On the lower back is more the smooth part that matches the upper part of the chest, pants, forearms and the area around his thumbs. These parts of the figure are painted in a darker red with a black wash over it, and the textured parts on the shirt, arms and hands are painted in a lighter red. The pants are smooth on the front and back, and the sides have the same texture as the upper part of the boots.
The mix of texture and smooth works great for the costume and the figures sculpt, and there is a nice diversity of detail to the sculpt. In addition to this, there is also gold deco, that is sculpted over the costume and painted as thin lines and resembles lightning bolts as the logo on his chest, as well as the shoes.
The head sculpt is nicely done especially the lightning bolts covering his ears, which is sculpted over the mask. The tips of the bolts sticking out back are sculpted away from the head sculpt, and the lower portion of the bolt is attached to the head. The mask is painted in the same dark red with black wash as most of the sculpt. The facial details include green eyes, and a nicely sculpted nose and mouth. This is a basic design of Grant Gutsin’s likeness, as opposed to 3D scanning.
The articulation works well on him, and includes a ball jointed neck, ball jointed chest, ball-hinged shoulders, swivel-hinged elbows, ball jointed and removable wrists, hinged swivel hips, swivel thighs, double-jointed knees, swivel boots, and hinged ankles. The elbows are only single jointed, and probably should have been double-jointed to match the knees and to give him so more posing options.
Included with The Flash are three sets of interchangeable hand sculpts, which includes fisted, open handed, and running.
Overall, The Flash is a great figure, with excellent detail and sculpting on the costume, good head sculpt, and good articulation.
