McFarlane Toys Stranger Things 7″ Chief Hopper & Eleven Figures Review

McFarlane Toys have always had detailed action figures dating back to their Spawn line in the 1990’s. In recent years, McFarlane Toys have switched over to 3D digitally scanning technology to better capture the likeness of film and television toy lines, as seen with their Walking Dead line. Their latest offerings of the Stranger Things 7″ Chief Hopper and Eleven figures are only the first wave planned of this popular new franchise, with other releases including Dusty, Lucus, a 10″ Demogorgon, Mike and Will coming in 2018. Things are looking up for fans of this series, and McFarlane Toys are continuing to offer these highly detailed figures.

Netflix has offered two seasons of this new series and plans to expand it with a third season is planned, but it appears won’t air until sometime in 2019. Even without a new season in 2018 (lets hope that changes), there is going to be product on shelves for fans next year.

Thank you to McFarlane Toys for providing their Stranger Things 7″ Chief Hopper & Eleven Figures for review.

Availability: November 2017

The first two Stranger Things action figures by McFarlane Toys are Chief Hopper and Eleven, as they appeared in the first season of the series. Chief Hopper stands at 7-1/4″ tall and is sculpted in his police uniform that is painted in different shades of light grey deco for the shirt and pants. the clothing features details such as a police badge, pen, and name on the shirt that is painted in gold. There is also a police badge on his left shoulder, that has gold, white and blue deco, and the right shoulder has an American flag. The shirt is sculpted with pockets, buttons, and realistic folds, and the pants have a brown holster on the right hip and the pistol can be stored inside. The holster has some texture sculpted on it and three silver buttons. There is also a black belt with a silver buckle. The shirt and pants also have a texture to it, and there is a wash to make it look dirty in some areas. His shoes are painted in brown, with light brown shoe laces, and the heels of the shoes are painted in a light grey. Chief Hopper’s head sculpt has a great likeness, and includes a non-removable hat, and great facial details including the beard and mustache. The hat has a wash over it that gives it some additional detail, and the trim around the hat is made of soft plastic.

Chief Hopper includes a pistol, coffee mug and a stand. The figure stand is not compatible with the hole on the bottom of his foot, and he ends up standing on it rather than being able to use the peg sticking up.

Eleven stands at over 5-1/2″ tall and is sculpted in her blue jacket, light grey socks with green and yellow stripes. The jacket is painted with a brown wash over it. The pink dress has a texture on the upper part of it, with blue and pink dots, and the skirt part is wrinkled and has a light orange deco on the upper and lower parts of it. Her shoes are painted in a darker grey, with a dirty wash  over them. Her head sculpt is nicely detailed, with the short brown hair, and great facial details that gives it a great likeness to he actress.

Included with Eleven is a removable blonde wig, radio, a waffle and a figure stand. Like Chief Harper, the figure stand is not compatible with Eleven for the same reasons as mentioned above.

The articulation on both figures is the same, which includes a ball jointed neck, ball-hinged shoulders, swivel-hinged elbows, ball jointed wrists, hinged hips, hinged-swivel knees, and ball jointed ankles.

Overall, McFarlane Toys have offered two incredibly detailed figures for the first wave, and Chief Hopper and Eleven are fantastic figures with a superior likeness to the on screen counterparts. Fans of the series will love these.
