Playmates Toys announced a new wave of the basic 5″ Ben 10 action figures that will be making their way to store shelves in the near future. This wave is themed Omni-Enhanced, and includes Heat Blast, DiamondHead, Four Arms & CannonBolt, as well as a villain for the wave – Vilgax.
Omni-Enhanced gives the Aliens upgraded powers and abilities by using the Omnitrix. These new powers also alters the appearance of the characters such as a jetpack for Heat Blast, armor and a crystal sword for DiamondHead, additional arms and stretch for Four Arms, and CannonBmakes motor noises and produces two trails of blue light from the two spikes on his sides while rolling

Omni Enhanced Four Arms features new grey rock armor that enhances his strength. This new enhancement also gives him two additional arms and hands. The blue hands double his punching impact, and also deploy energy while he punches or grabs an opponent. The Omni-Enhanced Four Arms can also create a supersonic shockwave by clapping his gauntlets together or slamming them on the ground. The stone armor on his body also increases his durability. He also has enhanced jumping.
The armor is sculpted over the arms, and the translucent blue hands are fisted and can also swivel. The head sculpt includes a new helmet, which covers his entire face with a grey and black helmet, with green eyes. The shoulder guards are hinged, and have a green splatter on the top, which also creates some textures. The neck and arms are painted in blue, and the shirt is painted in white with a black stripe in the front, and black pants. The Ben 10 symbol is on his chest located at the center of the new piece of armor.
The figure also has some new articulation along with the new arms, and includes a ball jointed neck. swivel-hinged shoulders (x4), swivel-hinged elbows (x4), swivel wrists (x6), swivel waist, swivel-hinged hips, and hinged knees.
Omni Enhanced Cannonbolt features a new grey armor sculpted over his head, with the same green deco splattered over it on top as Four Arm’s shoulder guards. In this enhanced form, Cannonbolt makes motor noises and produces two trails of blue light from the two spikes on his sides, and the spikes running along his back (and around him in sphere form) can be fired out as explosive missiles.
The ridges around the pieces of armor sticking up have blue deco, on the front three pieces, and the back two are left in grey. The armor also has some sculpted details that gives it some definition rather than a smooth surface, and the eyes painted in green and protected by the helmet. The Ben 10 symbol is on his chest located at the center below the armor.
The articulation is the same as the previous offering, and he has swivel-hinged shoulders, swivel-hinged elbows, and swivel-hinged hips.
Omni Enhanced Heatblast is given a new jetpack that allows him to fly, and he has the ability to generate and manipulate intense heat and fire from his body, combined with electricity. He can form fire into any shape that he chooses, enhance the fire in his hands for flaming punches. and can also breathe fire.
Heatblast is given new armor in addition to these new powers, This new arms is painted in grey, and covers his chest, shoulders, forearms and wrists, legs, and jets. The face sculpted in the flame is also covered in a mask, and translucent blue deco as the flame. There is also blue translucent deco on the jetpack, hands and feet. The body is painted in red, and translucent yellow as seen with both previous figures. The Ben 10 symbol is on his chest on the top of the chest armor.
HIs articulation includes a swivel neck, swivel-hinged shoulders, swivel-hinged elbows, swivel-hinged wrists, swivel-hinged hips, and hinged knees.
Omni Enhanced Diamondhead can manipulate the atomic structure of his physiology at will, giving him the ability to create crystal weapons or objects. He can also absorb energy being shot at him, and the energy moves through the energy into his sword, which can be converted into other energy weapons, and he can also shoot blue energy out of his left arm.
Diamondhead is also given new armor along with the new powers and abilities, which includes a new chest piece, a head sculpt that is helmeted, shoulder guards with the green textured deco, and armor on his forearms with spikes sticking out of it on the sides. These spikes, along with the spikes sticking up through his upper back are made of blue transparent plastic, as opposed to the green transparent plastic making up his arms and head sculpt (that is sticking up through the armor on top, and underneath the armor). His eyes are painted in yellow, and the armor on the chest is painted blue. The Ben 10 symbol is on the upper part of the chest armor.
His articulation includes a ball jointed neck, swivel-hinged shoulders, hinged elbows, swivel wrists, swivel waist, swivel-hinged hips, and hinged knees. Included with Omni Enhanced Diamondhead is a sword made of the same translucent blue plastic as the spikes.
Vilgax is the villain in the wave, and is a muscular squid Alien and one of the most powerful opponents that Ben has ever faced, causing Ben to rely on Omni Enhancements to defeat this enemy. Vilgax is sculpted with very large arms, to indicate his strength, The arms have orange veins (they’re supposed to be red), as does his hips that are sculpted a fraction of the size as the arms and chest. The shoulders are protected with armor, with spikes sticking up, and he is sculpted in a brown shirt and brown pants. The head sculpt has tentacles, with four hanging down the chest, two on the shoulders, and four hanging down the back. The head is very tiny, with the facial details including eyes and a mouth. On the back of the head is another vein that is sculpted over the head, as opposed to inward as the arms and hips.
He includes a sword, that can be held in either hand, and a sheath to store it in. His articulation includes a swivel neck, ball hinged shoulders, swivel-hinged elbows, swivel wrists, swivel-hinged hips, and swivel-hinged knees.
Overall, Playmates Toys Ben 10 figures continue to look great, and this new wave is a great addition to the line and has some of great sculpting and deco. Other Omni Enhanced characters including Grey Matter, Wildvine, Stinkfly, Overflow, XLR8 are likely planned for the next wave, and we’re hoping to see these and more next month at New York ToyFair 2018.
