Super 7 Masters Of The Universe Classics Collector’s Choice Fang-Or Figure Review

The next wave of Masters of the Universe Classics figures are currently shipping from Super 7, which includes the Collector’s Choice and Club Grayskull (Filmation style) figures. For Club Grayskull, these figures include Fang-Or, Quakke, Hawke and Lodar. Club Grayskull now has Man-At-Arms, Teela, Hordak and Tri-Klops that are all available now. In the next month, we’ll be taking a look at all of these figures as we have these in the office.

Fang-Or is a new character to the brand and appeared in the Dark Horse Mini-Comics that told the story of the Second Ultimate Battleground, and Fang-Or’s bio gives you an insight on this characters story during and after this all out war. He’s an interesting character with a great design that fits in well with other Snake Men, and we especially like the mention of Lady Slither in the bio, and hopefully, she too will find a place in this line.

Super 7 has done a remarkable job since taking over the line in 2017 following Mattel’s abrupt cancellation of Mattycollector that was announced during San Diego Comic-Con in 2016. With the cancellation, Super 7 didn’t have much time to put something together, and it was the Four Horsemen that came up with the idea for the Ultimate edition figures of He-Man, Skeletor, Teela, Ram Man and Faker. Following this, the Masters of the Universe Classics offerings have been spread out as opposed to a monthly offering that Mattel had been doing since 2009. Besides last years PowerCon exclusives, these are the latest offerings of Masters of the Universe Classics figures had offered directly to the consumer since the Ultimate Editions. We can tell you that so far we’ve received nothing but positive feedback from readers on these figures, and they great additions to the line. We are just so thankful to Super 7 for taking on this project and for continuing this line on behalf of Mattel, and we hope to see it thrive for years to come.

We’re starting off the first of these reviews with Fang-Or, and fits in nicely with other Snakemen. Fang-Or features a nicely detailed reptilian sculpt that is painted in dark green skin. The armor is nicely detailed with the gold and burgundy deco fit in nicely with the dark green skin. The Snakemen logo with the green snake is sculpted and painted over his gold belt buckle, which has a gold snake sculpted around the edges. The armor covers parts of the chest and back, wrists, and lower legs. This leaves most of the body exposed as his skin is visible and unprotected on most of the sculpt.

Like other Snake Men, Fang-Or has a special ability, which he can extend his front fangs, which is just terrifying given the fact that his head sculpt looks menacing enough with the yellow eyes and wide open mouth. The extended fangs are made of a soft plastic, which allows you to slightly bend them and is less prone to breakage. The two head sculpts are unique enough to each other and both are nicely done.

In his bio, Fang-Or is a mechanic and is trained by Snake Man-At-Arms and helps him build weapons and machines to use during the Second Ultimate Battleground. This is why he is given accessories that a mechanic would need, such as a hammer and that are shaped like a snake, and a screwdriver. As he is also a warrior, the figure includes a sword, and a a pet winged serpent capable of resting on his shoulders or the tail being held in his hand.

Overall, Fang-Or is an excellent figure with a great menacing looking appearance that fits in perfectly with other Snakemen characters. The attention to detail, paint applications, sculpt and accessories look great, and we especially like those fangs. Keep checking back for additional reviews of both new waves of figures.
