The next wave of Masters of the Universe Classics figures are currently shipping from Super 7, which includes the Collector’s Choice and Club Grayskull (Filmation style) figures. For Club Grayskull, these figures include Fang-Or, Quakke, Hawke and Lodar. Club Grayskull now has Man-At-Arms, Teela, Hordak and Tri-Klops that are all available now. In the next month, we’ll be taking a look at all of these figures as we have these in the office.
Super 7 has done a remarkable job since taking over the line in 2017 following Mattel’s abrupt cancellation of Mattycollector that was announced during San Diego Comic-Con in 2016. With the cancellation, Super 7 didn’t have much time to put something together, and it was the Four Horsemen that came up with the idea for the Ultimate edition figures of He-Man, Skeletor, Teela, Ram Man and Faker. Following this, the Masters of the Universe Classics offerings have been spread out as opposed to a monthly offering that Mattel had been doing since 2009. Besides last years PowerCon exclusives, these are the latest offerings of Masters of the Universe Classicsfigures had offered directly to the consumer since the Ultimate Editions. We can tell you that so far we’ve received nothing but positive feedback from readers on these figures, and they great additions to the line. We are just so thankful to Super 7 for taking on this project and for continuing this line on behalf of Mattel, and we hope to see it thrive for years to come.

While Hawke maintains her animated likeness and the Four Horsemen have once again sculpted a great figure, sometimes things don’t always go according to plan, and because of some unfortunate mistakes at the factory, Hawke has a few major flaws that is disappointing to say the least.
Hawke is based on her Filmation likeness, which as you know is based on the classic 1980’s He-Man and the Masters of the Universe animated series. Hawke is a Avionian female, and she had appeared in both the Filmation and 200X television and comic series. The character only appeared in a single episode of the classic series, but was enough to become a requested character to be introduced in this line. Hawke includes two head sculpts, which depict two different characters from the franchise. This includes his wife (Delora – MOTU Mini-Comics) and sister ( Hawke – television series), and the only real difference between them are the color and style of their head sculpts.
Hawke is sculpted and painted in her grey outfit, with blue shorts, red boots and feathers that are attached to her wrists. There is also a red band around her bicep, which is not connected to the top of the feather. There is also a blue bracelet around her neck. The sculpt and paint are nicely done, and there is a great likeness to the character.
As we mentioned, there are some major flaws on this figure, which include the fact that the sculpt is on the flimsy side, and the arms, legs and torso move a bit too easily for our taste (at least on this particular figure), and the fact that the head sculpts hide the neck, and she appears to have no neck whatsoever. Some issues were fixed through production however, such as the wide hips. There is also an issue with swapping out the heads, and it took the use of a blow dryer and heat up the plastic before applying excessive force, which is something that you never want to do.
Besides the two head sculpts as mentioned above, Hawke includes a sword and a smoke screen gun. The sword works great and fits easily in her hands, but the gun is a bit too big for her and there isn’t a good way to pose her while aiming it. It’s still a nice accessory, and definitely something that core fans will appreciate.
Overall, Hawke is an excellent figure with a great likeness to the character. The attention to detail, paint applications, sculpt and accessories look great. Make sure to use some caution while swapping out the heads though, as you definitely don’t want to risk breaking it.
