Super 7 Masters Of The Universe Classics Collector’s Choice Quakke Figure Review

The next wave of Masters of the Universe Classics figures are currently shipping from Super 7, which includes the Collector’s Choice and Club Grayskull (Filmation style) figures. For Club Grayskull, these figures include Fang-Or, Quakke, Hawke and Lodar. Club Grayskull now has Man-At-Arms, Teela, Hordak and Tri-Klops that are all available now. In the next month, we’ll be taking a look at all of these figures as we have these in the office.

Over the years that Mattel was handling this line, they officially went on record stating that the New Adventures of He-Man characters had the lowest selling ratio, which is why fans never saw a mini subscription like they did with Filmation, 200X and Princess of Power. New Adventures was an animated series that aired in 1990, and ran for 65 episodes. This was an update to the Masters of the Universe brand and took He-Man and Skeletor into space, where they joined opposite sides, and had brand new character designs. He-Man jointed the Galactic Protectors, and Skeletor took control of the Evil Space Mutants. Aspects of this show has been mentioned in the bio’s and mini-comics over the years, which went into some detail about this story following the Second Ultimate Battleground, as well as future events. Quakke is one character that had many show appearances that was not offered in this line-up, and became a Collector’s Choice winner voted by fans.

Super 7 has done a remarkable job since taking over the line in 2017 following Mattel’s abrupt cancellation of Mattycollector that was announced during San Diego Comic-Con in 2016. With the cancellation, Super 7 didn’t have much time to put something together, and it was the Four Horsemen that came up with the idea for the Ultimate edition figures of He-Man, Skeletor, Teela, Ram Man and Faker. Following this, the Masters of the Universe Classics offerings have been spread out as opposed to a monthly offering that Mattel had been doing since 2009. Besides last years PowerCon exclusives, these are the latest offerings of Masters of the Universe Classicsfigures had offered directly to the consumer since the Ultimate Editions. We can tell you that so far we’ve received nothing but positive feedback from readers on these figures, and they great additions to the line. We are just so thankful to Super 7 for taking on this project and for continuing this line on behalf of Mattel, and we hope to see it thrive for years to come.

Quakke is an Evil Mutant that had many notable appearances on the series, and while not every Masters of the Universe fans particularly liked New Adventures of He-Man, these characters had some great designs and the Four Horsemen have always done a fantastic job incorporating these into Classics style. This particular mutant has the ability to create earthquakes with his mace, or Grabatron Meteormace that is included.

Quakke features a great likeness to the character, and is head sculpt that definitely has a mutant alien design to him. His eyes are crooked, and the left one is slightly larger and up further than the right one. His nose looks like a snout, and he has an open mouth showcasing his white teeth. The head is mostly covered in a helmet, which has an alien design to it. The helmet is also cracked on the top and around the back, which is a nice touch. His skin color is red, which you can see from his face, neck, and parts of his arms that are covered in the gold armor.

Most of his body is covered in armor, which includes gold armor on his arms and legs, gold pauldrons that are made of soft plastic, with black deco between the grooves, and a silver chest armor protecting his chest and back. The legs also have purple pants underneath the armor, which are seen on the top part of the legs. This also has black deco in-between the grooves. Covering his right peck on the armor is a seismic readout that shows the level of vibration from his ability to create earthquakes.

Quakke is nicely articulated and fans familiar with this style know what to expect here. Included is his Grabatron Meteormace, which comes as two separate sections, the staff and the meteor. The staff section is a long pole that holds the meteor section using the claw end. The meteor section includes three peg holes that fit into each of the claws, so that it can be held and displayed just like the vintage toy. The meteor has a bit of weight to it, and you will need to ankle his legs and feet right so that he can stand up without falling over. The meteor can break apart into two sections, which reveals hidden technology.

Overall, Quakke has a fantastic figure sculpt, a great character design, and the Grabatron Meteormace accessory is nicely done and works well with the figure. If you’ve been collecting the New Adventures of He-Man characters over the years, as well as the line, you will need to pick this figure up along with all the new offerings.

Keep checking back as we take a look at all the new figures, along with the Filmation figures that will be showcased soon.
