The next wave of Masters of the Universe Classics figures are currently shipping from Super 7, which includes the Collector’s Choice and Club Grayskull (Filmation style) figures. For Club Grayskull, these figures include Fang-Or, Quakke, Hawke and Lodar. Club Grayskull now has Man-At-Arms, Teela, Hordak and Tri-Klops that are all available now.
Teela is based on her appearance as seen in the classic He-Man and the Masters of the Universe animated series. Teela is the daughter of the Sorceress, Captain of the Royal Guard, step-daughter of Man-At-Arms, and responsible for training and protecting Prince Adam. Teela is ofter seen on the front line fighting beside He-Man, which surprisingly she never figured out when Prince Adam disappears, He-Man shows up, and could never put it together that they’re one in the same. The likeness of Teela is pretty much accurate to the show, except for one crucial part – the deco on the face. Sometimes things don’t always go as planned, and at some point at the factory, Teela doesn’t closely as resemble her likeness from the animated series, which is the shame as almost every other figure introduced in this line has been spot on for the most part.
Super 7 has done a remarkable job since taking over the line in 2017 following Mattel’s abrupt cancellation of Mattycollector that was announced during San Diego Comic-Con in 2016. With the cancellation, Super 7 didn’t have much time to put something together, and it was the Four Horsemen that came up with the idea for the Ultimate edition figures of He-Man, Skeletor, Teela, Ram Man and Faker. Following this, the Masters of the Universe Classics offerings have been spread out as opposed to a monthly offering that Mattel had been doing since 2009. Besides last years PowerCon exclusives, these are the latest offerings of Masters of the Universe Classicsfigures had offered directly to the consumer since the Ultimate Editions. We can tell you that so far we’ve received nothing but positive feedback from readers on these figures, and they great additions to the line. We are just so thankful to Super 7 for taking on this project and for continuing this line on behalf of Mattel, and we hope to see it thrive for years to come.

Teela is based on her appearance in the 1980’s He-Man and the Masters of the Universe animated series, and joins the Filmation series that Mattel started. Teela is sculpted in her gold and white outfit, which has less detail in the armor than the toy version to make it easier to draw for the animated series (which is a great tidbit of information we’ve recently acquired). The gold part of her armor covers the top part of her chest, and is made of soft plastic. There are also gold bands around her biceps, and a gold band on her head. The white parts of her outfit are underneath the armor on her chest, and she has white cuffs on her forearms, and white on the top part of her boots that appear to be furry. The boots are painted in red, which matches the hair.
Her head sculpt resembles the shape of the Filmation style, as does the hair and head band, which is nicely sculpted and painted. Unfortunately, everything doesn’t exactly line-up, as you can see in the image above that the likeness isn’t quite there as her paint apps don’t match the source material. This of course is a challenge in itself, as designed the head and matching the paint applications on the head to the Filmation version of her takes a artistic approach that the Horsemen have always managed to do on nearly every figure that they’ve sculpted for Mattel and Super 7. Teela however had some unfortunate setbacks, and somewhere between the prototype, factory, and communications between the Horsemen and Super 7, she lost this critical piece of likeness to be considered Filmation accurate. This doesn’t necessarily mean she has a bad likeness, because she’s actually quite good, it’s just that the facial details and deco don’t line up.
Included with Teela is her Filmation accurate sword and shield as seen in the series. On most cases, the shields that are included in this line are hard to place on the figures forearms and appear to be prone to breaking if excessive force is applied. This shield however is easy to put on and take off, and fits on perfectly. The sword is nicely sculpted and also matches the Filmation series, with the exception that it tends to fall out of her hand quite easily.
Overall, Teela features a good likeness to her Filmation appearance as seen in the animated series, and joins other characters include He-Man, Skeletor, Beast Man, Tri-Klops, Man-At-Arms and others released so far. Fans of the original cartoon will not want to miss out on this one.
