Following our report of KB Toys looking to re-open following the fall of Toys “R” Us Stores, KB Toys is looking to become what it once was, the largest mall toy store in the Country. Strategic Marks CEO Ellia Kassoff is looking to re-open KB Toys by Black Friday 2018, and has been in talks with companies including Hasbro, Mattel and other toy companies that are looking for a place to ship their product that was originally planned for Toys “R” Us. These KB Toys that Ellia Kassoff are pop up stores, and following the holiday shopping season, he will determine which stores will remain open and keep the highest performing stores.
There is no word yet on what will happen to some of the planned Toys “R” Us exclusives that would have been available later this year, and if these will go to KB Toys or another retailer. We will update as we learn more.
“My assumption is that there’s about half a billion dollars worth of toys that have been produced for Toys “R” Us with no place to go,” said Strategic Marks president Ellia Kassoff, in a phone interview with CNNMoney. “That’s a big, big void that we’re hoping to fill up.”
