McFarlane Toys released the next two Stranger Things 7″ scale action figures with Dustin and Lucus, who are two of the four main male child stars in the series. The first wave included Chief Hopper and Eleven, which were reviewed HERE. Dustin was sculpted using images of Actor Gaten Matarazzo, who portrays Dustin in the series. Dustin is remarkably detailed and comes with accessories he used in the show.
Stranger Things is currently in its second season, with a third season planned for release at the end of 2018 or at the beginning of 2019. The series follows the disappearance of Will, and introduces fans to a supernatural world opposite of our own with creatures that can enter our world through rips through reality. The first season also includes the appearance of a girl with psychokinetic abilities who helps the missing boy’s friends in their own search. The series currently has two seasons screaming on Netflix, with the second season titled Stranger Things 2, and focuses on the continuing story of the first season. The third season we haven’t read any details about, and we especially won’t ruin those details for you here.

Dustin stands at 6 1/4″ tall and features the likeness of Actor Gaten Matarazzo. The figure was created using images of the actor, and this came out great. Dustin is sculpted in his 1980’s inspired blue denim jacket with a pink, white and blue interior as it is shown around the collar and down the front where the jacket is folded. The jacket includes hold buttons on the front and sleeves, and pockets on the sides and on the left shoulder. The pants are dark beige with a texture on these to create a realistic look and feet. Both the jacket and pants include folds and riffles to make it more realistic. His tee shirt is painted in a light green with the words Waupaca Wis. (which is a city in Wisconsin), as well as an image of a deer jumping over a rock. There appears to be a white undershirt that is shown around the top of the green shirt as well. His hat is attached to his head, and is painted with a dark red rim, and a white and blue color scheme. The head sculpt has a great likeness to the actor, with excellent facial details and hair textures.
His backpack is removable, and is painted in a light blue with a brown wash over it to indicate it’s dirty from laying around the floor. The backpack includes textures on its own, and looks the part of an 80’s style school backpack with the two zipper compartments. The handle on top is painted in white, which is also dirty, and the straps are painted in the same shade of light blue, with white straps at the lower part of it.
Dustin includes a compass, radio, a flashlight and an interchangeable right hand sculpt that includes a peg so that the radio can fit into it. Also included with a clear acrylic stand with the Stranger Things text in red. The stand doesn’t entirely work with the peg hole in his feet, and tends to fall out.
Dustin is fully articulated with a ball jointed neck with some limited range of motion, swivel-hinged shoulders, swivel-hinged elbows, swivel-hinge wrists, swivel-hinge hips, swivel-hinge knees, and ball jointed ankles with some limited range of motion.
Overall, Dustin is an excellent figure with a superior likeness to the actor and great attention to detail. Fans of Stranger Things will love this collection, as this is definitely a well done sculpted figure.
