During New York ToyFair, Hasbro launched a pre-sale of the largest Star Wars playset ever created – Jabba The Hutt’s Sail Barge. This per-sale was offered through HasbroLab, which is what they used for people to place their orders. This pre-sale ended yesterday, with a total of 8810 (approximately) units going to be produced for the U.S. and Canada.
What’s next? Hasbro is finalizing orders as some of these didn’t qualify, which is why the number of backers did go down from time to time during the pre-sale. As of today, the final numbers on Hasbro.com/Haslab states 8810 units will be made, which means they have exceeded the 5,000 backers that they needed to launch this project. Hasbro is now beginning to move into the production process of this playset, which will take about a year from start to finish, and fans can look for this to begin shipping around February 2019 assuming that there aren’t any delays. Until then, it’s very unlikely that Hasbro will offer anymore pre-sales like this until they make delivery on the Sail Barge, which would be the right thing to do.
Once again, we would like to congratulate Steve Evans and Mark Boudreaux, as well as the entire Star Wars Brand Team at Hasbro for this amazing accomplishment. If you backed the Barge, congratulate yourself. You have almost a full year to decide where to put it now!
