Mattel Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom Gyropphere Blast Vehicle Review

Mattel’s Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom line continues to offer such great product as fans have been digging in and buying all these up. This collection of dinosaur figures, trucks, 3 3/4″ figures and many other collectibles based on the new film. Mattel’s Jurassic World/Jurassic Park team has been working extremely hard on this brand to give fans something unique and special that no one else has been able to do, such as 3 3/4″ Legacy figures based on the very first Jurassic Park movie from 1993. This entire line has been an incredible offering even that spectacular Colossal T-Rex that has fans going crazy for it.

One of the largest vehicle offerings available right now is the Gyropphere Blast Vehicle featuring a launching Gyrosphere that can hold one 3 3/4″ figure, as well as places to store additional figures and even dinosaurs.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is the latest installment of the franchise, and takes place after the events of the previous film. After the demise of the Jurassic World theme park on Isla Nublar, the dinosaurs roam freely on the island for four years until an impending volcanic eruption threatens to destroy the island and the dinosaurs. Claire Dearing (Bryce Dallas Howard), the former park manager, has now founded the Dinosaur Protection Group, an organization dedicated to saving the dinosaurs. Claire teams up with Benjamin Lockwood (James Cromwell), the former partner of John Hammond, to launch a dinosaur rescue mission and bring the creatures to a sanctuary that Lockwood has created in America. Claire also convinces Owen Grady (Chris Pratt), a former dinosaur trainer who worked at the park and her former boyfriend, to join her mission so he can locate Blue, the last remaining of the four Velociraptors that he trained. After Isla Nublar is destroyed by the volcano, the dinosaurs are brought to Lockwood’s large estate, located in America. At the estate, Owen and Claire realize that the dinosaurs are being auctioned rather than saved. A hybrid dinosaur known as the Indoraptor escapes and terrorizes people at the estate.

The Gyropphere Blast Vehicle measures roughly 15 1/2″ long, 6″ wide and 7″ in height and is in scale with the 3 3/4″ figures and dinosaurs. The vehicle is an armored truck that can transport some of the smaller dinosaurs on the back as well as featuring pegs to hold some of the 3 3/4″ figures so they can stand on several different places on the vehicle. This includes the steps by the non-opening front doors, back steps, back of the truck, and even the opposite side of the hood when it’s down to launch the Gyropphere.

The vehicle is completely armor plated, and includes claw scratches on the sides, roof, bottom, hood and even the top from one of the larger animals on the island. The exterior details have a great likeness to what a truck of this type would look like, such as armored doors (that don’t open). several different head lights that are actually stickers, lights on top of the vehicle, The sideview mirror are made of soft plastic and can move like rubber, and there are also a hook with cables on both sides that are not functional and are sculpted to the vehicle. The windshields are also armor plated to prevent even one of the smaller animals from getting in, but the roof is left unprotected and there is a circular skylight that the figures and some of the smaller dinosaurs can fit through.

The Gyropphere is stored in the front of the vehicle and takes up the entire compartment area where they would normally be seats and interior vehicle details. The Gyropphere is launched by pressing the big orange button on top, and by pressing it the hood pops down and the Gyropphere is tossed forward. A figure such as Owen can be placed inside and rolled around as seen in the film. The Gyropphere is made of a clear light blue plastic, with a seat with handles inside.

The vehicle is mostly made of light grey plastic, with some dark grey such as the windshield, top head lights, front bumper, steps below the front doors, and read steps. There are also some additional deco such as the Jurassic World logo on either side of the vehicle, the number 05 on the top right side of the hood, yellow, and red panels with claw marks on both sides.

Overall, this is an excellent vehicle with some great play features and loads of fun to display. It fits perfectly in scale with the 3 3/4″ figures and dinosaurs and we especially like the included Gyropphere. Fans of the line will definitely want to check this out.
