Super7 Masters Of The Universe Classics Dylamug & Wrap Trap Figures Review

Super7 is now offering the second wave of their Masters Of The Universe Classics line-up, which includes both Club Grayskull (Filmation style) and the Collector’s Choice line. In the coming weeks ahead, we’ll be taking a look at all eight figures that have been shipped out, which includes  Dylamug, Wraptrap, Granita and Karg for the Collector’s Choice, and Mer-Man, Sorceress, Tung Lasher and Man-E-Faces for the Club Grayskull line.

We’re kicking off these reviews with Dylamug and Wrap Trap, two members of the Evil Horde and characters that many have been hoping to see in this line. Dylamug is a evil robotic Horde Trooper that includes rotating face pieces, cartoon-style Horde crest, firing Horde Crest, and toy-style Horde Crest, and Wrap Trap is a Horde Mummy that has been awaken by Hordak and Shadow Weaver, and is now a cursed undead creature after being dead for eons.

Wrap Trap features a beautiful mixture of that old Masters of the Universe feeling while adding some new elements to the character and it appears that they even gave him some new accessories that we don’t believe were featured in the original drawing. The Four Horsemen have once again outdone themselves as always, and the decision to include Wrap Trap in this line was a great by Super7 as it not only fills in the ranks of the Evil Horde, which already has a ton of members in this line, but it also shows fans that Super7 listens and are geared to make characters people want.

Wrap Trap is a perfect candidate to join the Evil Horde, and the concept of an evil Mummy works well for the empire. This figure is wrapped in bandages and features green rotten out flesh that are so well sculpted and painted that it looks like he came right out of the drawings. The bandage detail is superb and we especially like how some of the wrapping comes off the body, just like a real mummy. The bandages are in a light grey and are individually sculpted to crate some depth and detail. The skin is a neon green and has sculpted texture to showcase the rotten flesh, which goes great for not only Halloween, but Masters of the Universe as well. In addition, he has a Horde logo on his chest with a black harness around his shoulders, a Horde logo on his left shoulder, and left leg.

Wrap Trap includes two new accessories, which look to be Egyptian inspired while keeping it new and appealing to fans. The official names of these weapons that Super7 are calling them are Khopesh of Kartan and Necrobow. As a member of the Horde, he is required to have a crossbow for whatever reason, and this one comes in a bright gold, turquoise and green colors, while the sword is grey with a gold handle.

His head sculpt is mostly wrapped in bandages with the top part of his face being shown, which includes the bright green rotten flesh, and he even has red eyes that are glaring at you. Overall, Wrap Trap is an excellent figure, with a great likeness and a superior figure sculpt. This is one of the best sculpts we’ve seen under the Super7 flag and we hope to see many more surprises like this down the road.

As good as Wrap Trap is, we find that Dylamug to also have an excellent figure sculpt and likeness to the Filmation series. Dylamug is a member of Horde, and a robotic Horde Trooper that features rotating face pieces of the eyes and mouth that gives you three different customizable options of each one to display him with. The body has a robotic appearance with the light grey components of the trim around the face, arms and legs, with black wires sticking out. The face is the primary focus of the figure, but the nose is the only part of the facial details that doesn’t turn. His forehead comes with three separate Horde logo’s that are interchangeable, including all three that are painted in red, and the other one has a beam that comes out the center to fire at an opponent. On the top of his head are circuits protected by clear acrylic bulbs. These are sculpted to his head and cannot be moved.

Dylamug is an interesting choice for the line, and not only did he have some memorable appearances in the She-Ra cartoon of the 1980’s, but also has such a unique design that it’s hard not to love it. Dylamug was usually seen with the standard Horde Troopers and was a field commander and answered to Hordak.

Dylamug doesn’t have the standard articulation given to Masters of the Universe Classics figures, and is more limited due to the character design. His articulation includes a swivel waist, ball hinged shoulders, ball hinged elbows, swivel hips, hinged knees with almost no range of motion, and hinged ankles. The only accessories are the three interchangeable Horde logo’s that plug into his forehead.

Overall, Dylamug is an excellent figure with a superior likeness and a fantastic figure sculpt. Both Wrap Trap and Dylamug came out great, and we especially love the detail that went into these figures.
