Playmates Toys Rise Of The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Albearto Figure Review

Playmates Toys brand new Rise Of The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles wave 2 action figures are available now, which includes Albearto and Foot Lieutenant, and inspired by the Nickelodeon series. Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles takes the franchise into a new direction that is re-branded including character designs, appearance and characters that are introduced in this series. At New York Comic-Con, we had the opportunity to attend and cover the panel, which did not have any toy reveals, but did have a preview of an upcoming episode, Q&A with the cast, and some other tidbits of information.

For those of you remember the old days of the brand, Pizza Points are back and included with each of the figures, vehicles and play set where you can earn and redeem points for prizes. This loyalty program has two options – a free membership and a Ninja Warrior membership, where you pay a $15 fee where you will receive exclusives and can accesses the pizza points program to redeem for prizes. More information can be found on the Playmates Toys website.

Albearto served as the animatronic entertainment at a pizza restaurant, where he was used to sing birthday songs to children. When a child short-circuited him, April recruited Donatello to quickly repair him. Donatello upgraded him dramatically, but a mishap onstage caused the robot to be electrocuted, granting him sentience.

Now operating under his own control, Albearto animated his fellow robots, including President Pepperoni and Cheery Tomato. He fought the Turtles until Donatello distracted him with a birthday cake and a song. April smashed his head, deactivating him, but his eyes gleamed afterwards, indicating that he is still alive.

Thank you to Playmates Toys for providing their Rise Of The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Albearto figure for review.

Albearto is an all new original character introduced in this show, and this character is a robotic singing birthday bear gone evil. The figure has an excellent resemblance of the series, and the detail of the robotic parts and teddy bear are easily identified in the facial details such as the right eye and right side of his face. The figure features sculpted detail such as fur, and detailed blue hair in the back. The facial details are some of the best sculpting in this line so far, with a mouth with a speaking inside, a single tooth, a robotic eye and paint applications all make this figure great. His right arm is entirely robotic, and the left one has fur with the sleeve, and both hands have the razor sharp claws. The outfit looks like a pizza chef, with the hat, shirt and red ribbon on his chest. The chefs coat has some sculpted detail of its own including tears, wrinkles and buttons, which looks great. His legs are short, and the bottom of his feet have holes at the bottom so he can be placed on a peg from a playset or vehicle.

Albearto is painted in a beige chefs hat and coat, red ribbon, purple fur, dark grey robotic arms and parts of his face, dark red pants, and various deco including red and pink on the face.

Albearto includes a pizza slice, and a mallet that can fit into his claws. His articulation includes a swivel head, ball hinged shoulders, swivel-hinged elbows, swivel wrists, and ball hinged hips.

Overall, Albearto features an excellent sculpt and works well with other Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles figures. We are particularly fond of the new names given to some of these characters, and the designs are equally as impressive.
