Playmates Toys Rise Of The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Foot Lieutenant Figure Review

Playmates Toys brand new Rise Of The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles wave 2 action figures are available now, which includes Albearto and Foot Lieutenant, and inspired by the Nickelodeon series. Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles takes the franchise into a new direction that is re-branded including character designs, appearance and characters that are introduced in this series. At New York Comic-Con, we had the opportunity to attend and cover the panel, which did not have any toy reveals, but did have a preview of an upcoming episode, Q&A with the cast, and some other tidbits of information.

For those of you remember the old days of the brand, Pizza Points are back and included with each of the figures, vehicles and play set where you can earn and redeem points for prizes. This loyalty program has two options – a free membership and a Ninja Warrior membership, where you pay a $15 fee where you will receive exclusives and can accesses the pizza points program to redeem for prizes. More information can be found on the Playmates Toys website.

The Foot Lieutenant is one of two soldiers in the Foot Clan in this new installment of the franchise. This is an all-new character introduced in the franchise, and he as well as the Foot Brute stole paper to make an army of origami ninjas in the episode “Origami Tsunami.”

Thank you to Playmates Toys for providing their Rise Of The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Foot Lieutenant figure for review.

Availability: December 2018

The Foot Lieutenant features a brand new sculpt for a brand new Turtles character and is inspired from his appearance in Rise Of The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. This character, along with Foot Brute are the primary muscle for the Foot Clan, and are certainly more menacing and cunning than Rocksteady and Bebop could ever hope to be.

The figure includes a orange foot painted on his face, with orange toes on his forehead, yellow eyes and shark yellow teeth. He is dressed in a brown-red overlay, and two crossing straps over his bare torso, black wraps on his arms and black boots. He is given a bit of upgraded articulation, which includes a ball jointed head, ball hinged shoulders, swivel-hinged elbows, swivel waist, ball jointed hips, and swivel-hinged knees. The sculpt itself is spot on from the series, with a thin, lean design, an excellent facial likeness, and great deco.

Included is a spear, sword, and sickle that can fit into his hands. The weapons are nicely done and designed, and we are particularly fond of the skull on the handle of the sickle, and the orange on the spear.

Overall, The Foot Lieutenant is an excellent figure with great sculpting, design and deco. This figure works well with any Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles toy collection. We’re hoping that Foot Brute will be announced at New York ToyFair this coming February, so make sure to check back for our coverage.
