With New York ToyFair approaching next weekend, some advance news and early announcements are being made, and this news will be a sad announcement for The Walking Dead fans. Over the years McFarlane Toys has been one of the premier toy companies to offer The Walking Dead action figures and collectibles, including the 5″ and 7″ line for both shows airing on AMC (as you know we’re also referring to Fear The Walking Dead). In recent years however, McFarlane Toys has been slowly moving away from this franchise with offering fewer releases, and despite The Walking Dead being one of the most watched shows on television, fans haven’t been buying these figures.
This year however, McFarlane Toys won’t be offering action figures based on The Walking Dead or Fear The Walking Dead. With The Whisperer storyline about to kick off this season, and whatever direction Fear The Walking Dead is going into, a toy line for these shows will be missed mainly by the core fanbase still buying these figures.
The good news however is that McFarlane Toys still holds the license for The Walking Dead, and may have other announcements for it at New York ToyFair 2019, which we will be covering. One other uncertainty about this is their partnership with Skybound Entertainment, as both companies have been offering exclusive The Walking Dead action figure box sets and single figure offerings in a subscription service. The future of this offering remains uncertain, and we will most definitely be asking these questions at NYTF. Stay tuned for further updates.
McFarlane Toys products can be ordered on BigBadToyStore, Entertainment Earth, Megalopolis: City Of Collectibles and Amazon.com.
