As part of Hasbro’s Avengers: Endgame offerings, they have 6″ basic figures with less articulation and not as much detail as their Marvel Legends 6″ offerings. This includes 2-pack offerings including Captain America with Captain Marvel, and Thor with Rocket Raccoon. There are also single figure offerings that includes The Incredible Hulk that haven’t been offered in the Marvel Legends line at this time, so it might be a good idea to pick up some of these basic figures in the event they are not offered in this outfit again. In addition, this version of Captain Marvel is in her binary form, which the Marvel Legends figure is impossible to find as its a Wal-Mart exclusive, and for whatever reason they are not meeting demand on that. This 2-pack is a nice substitution for it in the event you are unable to obtain the Marvel Legends version.
Last month, we shared a new PR box that Hasbro sent out of some of their Avengers: Endgame products currently on store shelves, including new 6″ Marvel Legends figures, these 2-packs and other toys.
Thank you to Hasbro for providing their Captain Captain with Captain Marvel, and Thor with Rocket Raccoon 2-packs for review.
Availability: April 2019
The figures are packaged on a blister card with movie artwork on the front and back, with a brief bio also shown on the back.
Captain America, Thor and Rocket are sculpted in the armored suits that they wore in the film, which they used to travel back in time to undue the events from Avengers: Infinity War, including the deaths of half the population in the universe. The suits are nicely sculpted and and include some sculpted textures. For Thor and Rocket Raccoon, the suits are light and dark grey, with red trim, and the Avengers logo on the upper left side on their chest. The suit has some nicely sculpted details as and gives a great likeness to the film. Thor’s head sculpt has a decent likeness to Chris Hemsworth, and Rocket Racoon’s head sculpt, hands, feet and tail have sculpted fur. This includes brown deco with black and white on his face, and black stripes on his tail. Thor includes his axe that has some lightning effects, and the arm of Groot, and Rocket includes a blaster.
Captain America’s suit is different colors for whatever reason, but in the film all the suits were light and dark grey. His suit is light grey and blue, with red trim, and a repaint of Thor’s suit and other male figures in the basic line. His head sculpt includes the blue mask, that includes the A on his forehead, and nicely done facial details with a decent likeness to Chris Evans. On the sides of his mask are wings that are left unpainted. Captain America includes his shield that is painted in metallic red, silver and blue.
Captain Marvel is in her binary form, and is sculpted and painted in her blue, red and gold outfit that has some nicely done sculpted details, such as a star on her chest. Her hair is in the binary form, and like the 6″ Marvel Legends version, her face is left in a skin tone, which in the film her entire head was binary. This would imply that the figure isn’t accurate to the film. Her head sculpt also includes white eyes, and the hair is made of yellow plastic. Captain Marvel includes a fire ball that she can hold in her right hand.
Thor and Captain America share the same articulation, which includes a ball jointed head, swivel-hinged shoulders, swivel-hinged elbows, and swivel hips. Rocket Raccoon includes a ball jointed head, ball hinged shoulders, swivel wrists, swivel hips, and a swivel tail. Captain Marvel includes a ball jointed head, swivel-hinged shoulders, swivel-hinged elbows, and swivel hips. The lack of knee articulation is the most noticeable and they should have at least had a hinged knee joints just to make them look that much better.
Overall, Hasbro has once again done an incredible job offering on their Marvel offerings and these 6″ basic figures are definitely worth picking up. What is great about these is that they offer characters that aren’t yet available in the Marvel Legends line, including Thor, Rocket Raccoon, and Binary Captain Marvel (she is but that figure is just too hard to find).
