Hasbro Star Wars The Black Series 6″ – The Rise Of Skywalker Rey & D-0 Figures Review

The Skywalker storyline of the Star Wars franchise wraps up in Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker film, which is in theaters now. This new figure of Rey is given an update to reflect her appearance in this new film, which includes new deco and the photorealistic likeness that Hasbro has been using. It’s interesting that the outfit didn’t change that much from her, and according to some rumors, it’s because of the deleted scenes and the loss of Carrie Fisher, which she was spliced into scenes in the film.

Thank you to Hasbro for providing their Star Wars The Black Series 6″ – The Rise Of Skywalker Rey and D-0 Figures for review.

Availability: October 2019

Rey and D-0 are packaged in the standard Black Series window box, with black and red box art, including an image of Rey on the front. On the back is a bio of both characters and an image of Rey.

Rey has even a better sculpt than some of the early online pictures had shown when the Rise of Skywalker figures were revealed. The likeness of Rey uses the photorealistic technology with paint applications applied that Hasbro has been using on many of their film and television figures from Star Wars and Marvel, and she has a really good likeness to Actress Daisy Ridley. Her outfit is also updated to include a tan, gray, and off-white robes as seen in the film, with sculpted folds and textures added.

Included with Rey is her blue lightsaber with a removable blade on the hilt, staff that breaks apart into 3 parts, backpack, and a blaster that can be stored in the holder on her right hip.

Her articulation includes a ball hinged neck, ball jointed shoulder, swivel-hinge elbow, swivel-hinge wrists, ball jointed torso, ball jointed hips, swivel thighs, double-hinge knees, hinged and rocker ankles.

D-0 is a new droid introduced, and we’re not even sure of the purpose of this new character. But he does have a really nice looking sculpt. The sculpt features a rotating wheel and ball jointed antenna’s. The paint applications are really good as well, with washes and nicely done paint applications. D-0 also comes with a tiny plastic curved piece that rests under his wheel so he can stand. This piece is almost an easy miss when you take the figure out of the package, and we found that it’s too difficult to get him to stand without it.

Overall, Rey and D-0 are great figures with excellent likenesses and sculpts. If you had not done so already, make sure to pick these up along with other Star Wars The Black Series figures.
