Mystery Machine, Scooby and Shaggy with Ghost, and blind bags villain figures (exclusive to Wal-Mart until May 2020) as part of the initial launch. Playmobil continues to step up their game with such iconic licenses such as Ghostbusters, Back To The Future, and Scooby Doo, that are all fan-favorites. With New York ToyFair coming up fast, we’re hoping to see many more great surprises coming our way as there are still some licenses that need to be given this treatment. For now, these Scooby Doo sets have us contained, but we’re loving what we’re seeing from Playmobil and hope that this trend continues for years to come.
Thank you to Playmobil for providing their Scooby Doo sets for review.

The Mystery Machine and the Scooby and Shaggy set are packaged in boxes with artwork inspired from the classic series. On the front and sides is nicely done artwork of the figures with scenery, and on the back are images of the figures and their accessories. The blind bags showcases some of the 12 villain characters being offered.
The Mystery Machine gets the Playmobil treatment and measures 11″ long, 4-1/2″ wide, and 5 1/2″ height, and is inspired from the original series. The Mystery Machine is based on the 60’s hippy design with the light blue, light green and oranges flowers that are on the body. The van includes a cockpit includes two seats, a steering wheel, two cup holders for the included cups, and a nicely done details of the interior of the vehicle. The van features a removable from hood over the cockpit, removable roof, opening rear doors, and an opening side door. The interior details in the a an illuminated monitor, where you can insert your ghost cards to learn more about the mystery, which is battery operated and lights up.
This also includes two seats behind the driver seats, side seats, holders for Scooby Snacks, and more fun features. The van can hold all 5 Mystery Inc. figures, including Fred, Daphney, Velma, which are included with the Mystery Machine, Scooby and Shaggy, and a few other figures can be placed on the side seats.
The Mystery Machine also includes a lot of fun accessories, such as a Spy Glass for Velma, a map, a flashlight, 3 ghost cards and a holder for them, a donut, a pizza slice, 2 cups, 2 Scooby Snack bags, a camera, a hot dog, and a tray to hold all of it.
As we mentioned, this van includes Fred, Daphne, and Velma in their iconic colors from the classic series, and given the Playmobil figure style and articulation. Some of the pieces need to be put on the figure, such as Fred’s scarf, Daphne’s skirt and scarf, and Velma’s neck piece and skirt.
Shaggy and Scooby come in a set along with a ghost villain, which is actually a person in disguise as we’ve seen each of these classic episodes show. It wasn’t until the 80’s that some of the ghosts and goblins were real, such as in several animated movies, but in this original series each of the villains were humans disguised to scare people away or whatever that the person was trying to accomplish. Shaggy and Scooby are also in their show-accurate colors, and Scooby includes a collar with the dog tag. Scooby includes an acrylic stand that allows him to actually stand up with, which is a nice touch.
The ghost villain can glow-in-the-dark, and includes a removable mask to reveal the person underneath, and the rest of the suit is also removable to show him fully clothed. This set also includes a ghost card, a hamburger, a bag of Scooby Snacks, a flashlight, and a string that the ghost can swing from.
The Creeper is part of the mystery bag assortment and part of the 12 figures being offered. These are blind bags, and according to Playmobil there are no codes to identify who’s inside. Leaving you with a blind purchase, as seen with other blind bags offerings. The Creeper is one of the most memorable villains from the original series, and the figure is mostly in green and done in the Playmobil figure style. The ghost card shows an actual image of him as he was seen in the animated series, but as the figure is not based on the animated look and is stylized, you may not recognize him at first. The head has faces on either side, The Creeper, and the person under the mask, and you can swivel the head around to make it look like the mask was removed.
The Creeper includes an eye ball that he can hold, and the ghost card.
Overall, these Scooby Doo sets are amazingly detailed and works well for Playmobil.
