McFarlane Toys – My Hero Academia 7″ Scale Shoto Todoroki, Eijiro Kirishima & Ochaco Uraraka Figures Review

 

McFarlane Toys is offering a new wave of their My Hero Academia 7″ Scale figure line-up, which is based on the Japanese superhero manga series. My Hero Academia follows the story of a world where most people have super powers, and tells the story of a boy named Izuku Midoriya, as he was born without super powers (called Quirks). Izuku Midoriya dreams of becoming of hero and scouted by All Might, Japan’s greatest hero, who shares his quirk with Midoriya after recognizing his potential, and later helps to enroll him in a prestigious high school for heroes in training.

This new wave of figures includes Shoto Todoroki, Eijiro Kirishima and Ochaco Uraraka, which are three main characters in the series.

Each of the My Hero Academia figures are packaged in a window box, with artwork from the series on the front, and on the back are additional artwork of the characters in this wave as seen in the anime series.

 

Ochaco Uraraka comes in her pink and black Hero outfit, with the black parts of the suit is where the articulation in the arms, legs and hips accuse, and the pink areas is what highlights the detail in the sculpt, such as the boots, are of the chest, hips, wrist and shoulders. She also has some dark pink deco, including the area around her neck, elbows, belt buckle, wrists, and the bottom of the boots. Her head sculpt is nicely done and stylized to the cartoon, and her hair is removable allowing you to swap it for her helmet with hair sculpted to it. The helmet includes a clear visor, and is painted in light and a darker pink to match the outfit. Also included is a set of alternate hands, and a flight stand with base, which is also articulated.

Her articulation includes a ball jointed head, ball hinged and butterfly shoulders, swivel biceps, double-hinged elbows, swivel wrists, ball jointed torso, ball jointed hips, and double-hinged knees.

 

Eijiro Kirishima comes in his Hero outfit from Season 2, and is painted in black pants, with purple skirt around his hips with a red R for a belt buckle, brown boots, and dark purple gears around his shoulders with a strap across his chest and back that is connected to the right side. The figure is shirtless, with bare arms, which he also comes with an interchangeable set of arms, which are also in his skin tone. His head sculpt is nicely done and a great likeness to the series. His red hair piece is removable, and he also comes with an interchangeable hair piece with a mask connected to it. He also includes a black figure base with one peg so he can stand on it.

His articulation includes a ball jointed head, ball hinged and butterfly shoulders, swivel biceps, double-hinged elbows, swivel-hinged wrists, ball jointed torso, ball jointed hips, swivel-hinged knees, hinged and rocker ankles.

 

Shoto Todoroki comes in his Hero outfit from Season 2, and he is sculpted in dark blue outfit, with a grey backpack with black painted in-between the grooves, yellow belt with black deco painted in-between the grooves, light and a medium grey boots. His forearms and hands are in his skin tone, and his head sculpt is nicely done with white and red hair, with red deco around his left eye. Included is a fire effect for his left hand, and an ice effect for his right hand, which both can fit into around his closed fisted hand sculpts. He includes an extra set of hands, and a figure base that he can stand on.

His articulation includes a ball jointed head, ball hinged and butterfly shoulders, swivel biceps, double-hinged elbows, swivel-hinged wrists, ball jointed torso, swivel waist (the shirt is made of soft plastic, which allows the waist to turn, but the actual point of articulation of waist rotation is not offered), ball jointed hips, double jointed knees, hinged-swivel and rocker ankles.

Overall, McFarlane Toys did an excellent job capturing the likeness from the series and these figures feature great sculpts. My Hero Academia fans will surely enjoy this line of high-end detailed figures.
