Super7 – Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles ReAction Wave 2 Figures Review

Super7’s highly recognized and fan-favorite Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles ReAction line continues with a second wave that continues where wave 1 left off, and this wave is available now. This line-up includes April O’Neil, Baxter Stockman, Krang, Space Cadet Raphael, and Undercover Donetello with character specific accessories and on card backs featuring brand new art by Turbopork.

The ReAction figures are reimagined versions of these characters, as if the franchise was created in the 1970’s, otherwise known as the golden age, as opposed in the 1980’s. Each figure includes five points of articulation and comes with character specific accessories.

Thank you to Super7 for providing their Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles ReAction Wave 2 Figures for review.

Availability: July 2020

Each figure is packaged on a retro inspired blister card with beautiful character art on the front, with a sewer backdrop behind him. The back is also a homage to the vintage from Playmates Toys, including a brief bio, and a look at waves 1 and 2.

This line-up continues where wave 1 left off, and gives you more great characters from the animated series and the figures feature bright show-accurate deco and re-imagined in the ReAction line. Space Cadet Raphael and Undercover Donatello are variants and were two of the most remembered figures of the vintage line. Space Cadet Raphael comes in his space suit that is painted in a light grey space suit, with metallic silver, red and blue deco. The bowl cannot be removed, but can turn along with his head.  Undercover Don comes in his trench coat, with a hat, and both turtles have their iconic colored bandana. Undercover Don comes with his bo staff that he can grip onto, and Space Cadet Raph does not come with accessories.

Splinter and April O’Neil are offered in their animated colors, with splinter in his purple rode, a black belt and a gold symbol on his chest, and April O’Neil in her yellow jumpsuit, with a white belt and boots. Splinter has sculpted detail on his fur, bandages around his ankles and feet, and really nice facial details including the two front teeth and rat-like appearance. Included with Splinter is a staff that rests in his hand, but he cannot hold it. April O’Neil is also stylized in the ReAction look, and keeps her iconic cartoon colors. The red hair is nicely sculpted and and the yellow jumpsuit and red hair gives you a good indication that it’s her. Included with April O’Neil is her channel 6 Camcorder, and a throwing star.

Baxter Stockman and Krang are the two villains in the wave and two of the best sculpts in the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles ReAction line so far. Baxter Stockman has his insect-like appearance and Krang is sculpted in his bubble walker. Baxter Stockman includes four arms, wings, and an in-sect head with bug eyes, a purple and blue face, sharp teeth, and orange hair. He is sculpted and painted in his lab coat, with a black shirt, greenish-blue pants, and his lower legs have the appearance of an insect’s body, as does his two shorter arms. The wings can swivel up and down, and he also has the most articulation of the wave counted at 9 points. Krang is another beauty, but his head cannot be removed from the bubble walker. The bubble walker pays homage to what was seen on the show as well as the vintage toy (see gallery below). It’s painted in a dark grey, blue and purple deco, with a clear acrylic bubble on top that can lift up. What is missing here is a blaster for him to hold onto, but he does have articulation in his arms, as well as his robot arms, and legs.

Overall, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles ReAction figures by Super7 are great looking figures that excellent deco and cartoon-like colors. These will surely be on every Turtle fans want list so make sure to pick up this wave, and wave 1 while you can. The attention to detail on these and likenesses are excellent and make great additions to any Turtles collection.
