At this point, no one should be surprised as DC Direct has been abruptly shut down by Warner Bros. and the company is going through a lot of restructuring at the moment. If you were hoping to obtain this wave of Batman: The Adventure Continues action figures, you’re out of luck. We’ve been able to confirm that this has indeed been cancelled, and what you see now, including DC Essentials Dceased and some Batman: The Adventure Continues figures, is all you’re going to get for action figures. Additional offerings such as statues and busts will see release, but we’re not certain what has been cancelled and what is still coming. This depends on how far along they are in production at the time the company was shut down.
This wave had included Catwoman, Batman Who Laughs, Vampire Batman and Batman Version 2 figures, and unfortunately, these will be added to the long list of action figures from so many different lines by so many different toy companies to never see release. We are heartbroken by this news as you are.
We recently reported, and first broke the news before anyone else that site sponsor Things From Another World was cancelling pre-orders for these figures. A major retailer like that doesn’t cancel pre-orders unless something happened, so we took to our contacts since then and have been able to confirm this sad news.
The only upside to all of this is that many of our friends at DC Direct weren’t simply laid off following the closure of DC Direct, and we’re very happy to hear that they have jobs during this pandemic and crazy time in our Country. We are very happy about that and hope to see them again in the future.
