Captain Ginyu is one of Frieza’s most trusted commanders, and he is the leader of the Ginyu Force, a powerful team of warriors that Frieza summons as his personal army. On planet Namek, as part of the Frieza Saga, fans were introduced to Captain Ginyu, Recoome, Burter, Guldo, and Jeice of the Ginyu Force (also coming in this line as Bandai Premium Exclusives), and they became a major obstacle for Vegeta, Krillin and Gohan as they were also trying to obtain the Dragon Balls. After Goku shows up and saves the day, he faces off against Captain Ginyu. Ginyu uses his ability to switch bodies with Goku, and after Ginyu features Gohan, Krillin and Goku in his former body, Vegeta uses his maximum power to save them. Ginyu attempts to switch bodies with Vegeta, and Goku interferes whilestill rendered within Ginyu’s body. The second time, Goku is able to intercept it with a Namekian Frog, and Captain Ginyu ends up switching bodies with that frog, and the frog ends up inside Ginyu’s body.
Captain Ginyu has been seen on the series a number of times since his defeat on Planet Namek, including the Cell Saga as a frog, Majin Buu Saga also as a frog. In Dragon Ball GT, Captain Ginyu along with many other villains escaped hell and began attacking Earth. In Dragon Ball Super, he as a frog in the movie, and in the television series take on this show, he uses his ability to switch bodies with Tagoma, and reclaims his place as Frieza’s strongest soldier. He is quickly defeated by Vegeta, and this ends the threat of the Ginyu Force once and for all.
Captain Ginyu is also remembered for his stunning striking poses that he, and other members of the Ginyu Force made before they fought. These poses, as well as their behavior before a fight seemed rather silly, especially coming from such powerful villains that were supposed to be feared throughout the galaxy.
Captain Ginyu stands at 6.7″ tall and includes three interchangeable heads, a swap out battle damaged chest, interchangeable hands, and a four star Dragon Ball.

In the series, Captain Ginyu is depicted as a tall alien with purple skin, with black horns on either side of his head, veins on top of his head, and wearing a Saiyan suit. The figure has a great likeness to how he he looked on the show, and they did an incredible job capturing all these details just like they’ve been doing with this entire line. Captain Ginyu’s head sculpts each have different expressions capturing several scenes from the Frieza Saga, including a head with a scouter, and three other heads with distinctive expressions and facial details. All of the details, such as the horns and veins are the same on the heads, and each of the heads are easy to swap for a different one.
The armor all of the characteristics of the Sayian armor, including dual shoulder guards and skirt guards, that are light brown, and are articulated, and the same pattern on his his stomach. The rest of the armor is painted in black and white with an insignia on the upper left hand side of his chest.
His wrists include bracelets that are painted in black and white, and his boots have the same pattern and design as the armor.
He also includes ten interchangeable hand sculpts, which include closed fisted, three sets of open hands, and two pointy fingers hand sculpts that helps give him all the poses you saw from the series. Between the heads and hands, you pretty much can create any pose he did on the cartoon, or make up one of your own. Also included is the four star dragon ball, which is pretty large and they did a fantastic job designing it. Also included is an additional interchangeable chest armor piece with battle damage, likely from the blast he did to himself when switching bodies with Goku.
His articulation is standard to the line, and allows a full range of motion just like we’ve seen with each release.
Overall, Captain Ginyu is an excellent figure with a great likeness and overall fantastic quality and attention to detail. The accessories, including the interchangeable hands and heads allow you to recreate many of the poses from the series, so that is definitely a plus. The leader of the Ginyu Force finally joins this line, so make sure to pick him up and make him part of your collection.
