Mattel – Masters Of The Universe Origins Land Shark Vehicle Video Review

Mattel has brought back the Land Shark as part of their Masters Of The Universe Origins line-up for 2021, which is based on the 1985 release that was part of the vintage line. The Land Shark features adjustable laser cannons and opening jaws that chomp up and down as its wheels turn. The vehicle is compatible with the 5.5″ Origins line, and would also fit your vintage inspired figures from the 1980’s.

Before starting this review, I reached out to Scott Neitlich, former brand manager at Mattel and he worked on Masters of the Universe among other brands on Mattycollector, and he was kind enough to explain why the Land Shark did not make it into the Masters of the Universe Classics line. In the video, I also read the quote, and give a few more reasons such as the original roadmap was supposed to go through 2017, but was changed as subscriptions were going down, so not everything that had been planned made it out.

Quote from Scott Neitlich “Toyguru” on why we did not see the Land Shark in the Masters of the Universe Classics line on Mattycollector:

“The Landshark was definitely a vehicle we talked about for Classics. We had done so many “good guy” vehicles that we really wanted to start pumping out bad guys ones. The Roton was bumped up only because it had the whole “air and land” aspect, but if the line had kept going for sure we would have gotten to the Land Shark. After that the Road Ripper and the Attak Trak were on our short list!”
