Ahead of Hasbro Pulse Fan Fest, they revealed their upcoming G.I. Joe Snake Eyes Figures that we know now are definitely geared for kids, as these 6″ figures are priced at $9.99 each, which is half of what G.I. Joe Classified retails for ($19.99). These figures are given reduced articulation to cut costs, which is why these are $9.99, and won’t be available until Nov. 1st (although expect pre-orders to open up on Friday). You can clearly see in the images that these are no where as detailed as far as sculpted and articulated as the Classified line, which is a shame.
This wave includes Snake Eyes, Baroness, Scarlet, Storm Shadow, Nightcreeper, Red Ninja, and there’s also motorcycles for Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow for $9.99 each (given the price point, it’s unlikely that the figures will come with the bike).
The Snake Eyes movie hits theaters and HBO Max on October 22, and is an origin story. While the 2009’s G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra and 2013’s G.I. Joe: Retaliation movies were the first films, this new Snake Eyes Movie is a reboot to those other two films, and will focus on some key characters that many of you may remember, such as Scarlet.
Those other two films offered 4″ figures, with vehicles and even that PIT playset that was all part of the line. So far, we are only getting these 6″ figures, bikes, and some roll play toys, which is nothing like what we saw for 2009’s G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra and 2013’s G.I. Joe: Retaliation toylines. While another G.I. Joe movie is planned after this Snake Eyes film, the franchises’s fate depends on the consumer, which is you. If the film flops, and the toys sell really well, we’ll probably get more G.I. Joe toys at stores. If the film is a hit, and the toys are flying off shelves, we’ll probably get more G.I. Joe entertainment and toys. So if you like G.I. Joe, support what you see.
