Mega Construx Heroes Wave 3 Figures Review

Mega Construx Heroes Wave 3 Figures Review

Mega Construx is offering their Heroes Wave 3 Figures, which includes figures from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Predator, Borderlands 3 and Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Blacklist – Sam Fisher. It would appear that they have relaunched the line with the numbering of their waves, and having gone back to check out some previous coverage for the site, this wave is listed as the second series, which the previous second wave had characters from MOTU, Star Trek, and Alien in the series (reviewed here). Since Mattel switched the MOTU characters into their own line, it seems that they rebooted the numbering, which is both a little confusing to keep track and makes sense at the same time. Jumping ahead to 2021, they are now continuing to offer characters that you previously don’t have, and this wave finishes the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comic figures with Michelangelo that has not been offered yet.

Availability: April 2021

Each figure is packaged on a blister card, with artwork of each character on the front, including their respective logo’s, along with the Mega Construx logo’s, and the name of each character at the bottom.

Michelangelo wraps up the classic Kevin Eastman Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles characters in color, which is something that Mega Construx started all the way back in 2018 with Leonardo. Since then, they have been offering one TMNT figure in a wave each year, following with Donatello in 2019, Raphael in 2020, and now Michelangelo. Each figure uses many of the same parts and deco, and are given new heads. The bases for Leonardo and Donatello have green in the back, where Raphael and Michelangelo are all in black. Just like in the comic, each figure has a red bandana, and are given their signature accessories. Michelangelo’s nunchucks are made of soft plastic, and are sculpted to look like chain links. He comes with two of them, and also comes with a yellow bandana so you can tell the character apart. The red and yellow bandana’s are interchangeable, just like we’ve seen with Leonardo and Donatello (Raphael only came with one red one).

Getting Michelangelo in this line completes the set, but that doesn’t mean that Mega Construx can’t do other characters that were previously offered in black and grey years earlier, such as Shredder and Casey Jones. Hopefully, more turtles characters are coming in Mega Construx Heroes!

Predator comes in his cloaked form, with a camouflage of the jungle nicely painted throughout his body. The deco is nicely detailed considering the size of the figure, and the clear plastic cloaked parts and jungle camouflage deco gives this figure a great likeness and appeal to it just like you remember from the film. He also has a removable backpack, laser cannon, wrist blade, and a figure base.

Psycho and CL4P-TP-BL-U are from Borderlands 3, a role-playing first-person shooing game that was released in 2019. There are multiple versions of Psycho in the game, and each are armed with buzz-axes and grenades. This figure includes the iconic mask, tattoos on his chest and arms, and red pants that are given a detailed wash to them. He also has knee pads, with one higher than the other, bandages around his forearms, and gloves in the same colors. The attention  to detail on this figure looks great, especially the head sculpt and buzz-axe accessory.

CL4P-TP-BL-U is a robot, and a repaint of Claptrap from last years wave. This figure has some great attention to detail, included the printed deco on his body that has light blue, light grey, and brown. He includes two robotic arms, flaps on the sides, an antenna on top, and a rotating wheel at the bottom. He comes with a stand with a base, and the peg plugs into his back so he can stand on the base as he doesn’t have feet, which allows him to stand on it. He also includes a slice of pizza.

Sam Fisher is from Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Blacklist, which is an action-adventure stealth video game. The figure comes in a black stealth suit wit ha lot of sculpted detail, and night vision goggles sculpted to his head. He comes with a silencer that does not have a place to be stored on the suit, which is strange as the pegs on the sides of his legs look to be able to hold something to them. The silencer is removable from the pistol, so you have two parts to it. Also included is a figure base.

Overall, Mega Construx has yet again offered a great line-up of characters to go with their previous offerings. Turtles and Predator fans will note that they are two popular characters that will be highly sought after.
