Mattel Launches Mattel Playback – Send Back Used Toys For Recycling

Mattel, along with other corporations are on board with the Biden Administrations plan to recycle, and they are offering a new program called the Mattel Playback, where you can send back your used toys to help save our planets natural resources, including plastic, cardboard and paper by giving you the option to reduce, reuse and recycle toys that includes Matchbox, Barbie and MEGA toys. This program, and one’s like it will help save the planets resources for the next generations ahead, and will hopefully help stop the polluting of our ocean’s as we’re seeing continuing pollution of plastic in our oceans.

If you recycle like I do, then you may be unaware that your recycling might not be going to the right places as the people in charge of it have not been doing the right things, as they’ve been burning recyclables rather than actually recycling them. The system is broken, so we all need to come together and make changes, and save our oceans and wildlife.

With Mattel PlayBack, when possible, we’ll recover the materials and reuse them as recycled content in new toys. For materials that cannot be repurposed as recycled content into new toys, Mattel PlayBack will either downcycle those materials into other plastic products or convert them from waste to energy.

At launch, the program will accept Barbie®, Matchbox® and MEGA toys for recycling with other brands to be added in the future. Please see FAQs for more information.

Mattel PlayBack will initially be available in the United States and Canada. France, Germany and the United Kingdom are also launching similar toy takeback programs.
