Mattel – Masters of the Universe Revelation Masterverse Andra, Scareglow, Fisto & Stinkor Figures Review

Mattel’s Masters of the Universe Revelation Masterverse line continues with a new wave inspired from the Netflix series, including Scareglow, Andra, Stinkor and Fisto all in 7″ scale. One of these characters in this wave had a surprise death in the second half of the season, which is currently screaming, so make sure to watch it!

The Masterverse line is the adult focused offerings, while Origins and the kids line are targeted towards both. Of the three, Masterverse and Origins are truly the best lines out there for the brand as this 7″ scale line is a good substitute to Mattel’s MOTU Classics line from years back, and Origins having all that 80’s nostalgia we all love. Masterverse is the type of high-end line that fans were used too with Classics, so if you collected that, you’ll have a pretty good idea what this line offers as far as quality and attention to detail. The Classics figures however sport a much larger bulkier chest compared to Masterverse, which have leaner torso’s and this makes them a bit more accurate to their source material. As you may be aware, Revelation is a brand new show and not a sequel to the Filmation series as originally thought and stated, so we’re getting a look at a new series, which is part of the MOTU Multiverse, a parallel dimension to the Filmation series.

Thank you to Mattel for sending along their Masters of the Universe Revelation Masterverse Andra, Scareglow, Fisto and Stinkor Figures for review.

Availability: December 2021; Q1 2022

Each figure is packaged in the standard window box we’ve seen in the first wave, with the figures shown in the front, logo’s below them, images and their names on the sides, and the back includes images of the character, a description and a look at additional figures.

Scareglow is repainted from his San Diego Comic-Con 2021 release, which was a more show-accurate figure that came with the sword and a wired cape. This new version is given yellow painted bones on his chest, hands and legs, compared to the neon green that the SDCC version. The outfit is mostly in dark purple, with a metallic purple belt, metallic purple bracelets, and there is a sculpted texture on the plastic parts of the outfit. The boots are also metallic purple, with green on top. The cape is wired for posing and is made of fabric. The bottom of the cape looks torn that gives it a nice looking effect, with the top part of the cape made of plastic and placed around the neck.

The head sculpt is nicely done and is made of translucent plastic, with a black wash over it, and red eyes. While the SDCC is more show-accurate figure, and if you’re looking for him, your best bet at this point is eBay, this release offers everyone a chance to obtain the character in this line.

Included with Scareglow is the Scythe of Doom, and two sets of interchangeable hands. The Scythe of Doom is cast in dark green, and not given a painted blade that the SDCC version had.

His articulation is the same as He-Man and Skeletor’s, including a ball jointed head, ball jointed torso, ball hinged shoulders, swivel biceps, double-hinged elbows, swivel-hinged wrists, ball jointed hips, swivel waist, swivel thighs, double hinged knees, swivel boots, hinged and rocker ankles.

Andra is a character first introduced to the franchise in the Masters of the Universe Star Comics published by Marvel between 1986 and 1987. Andra comes in her mutated colors as seen in the series, including dark green yellow, black and brown outfit, and has a wrist blaster with an effect piece that plugs into it on her left forearm.

Her head sculpt is nicely done, with great facial facial details and textured hair. The helmeted head sculpt is painted in a metallic silver with yellow eyes, orange and brown tubes on the sides, and the hood works best for this head.

Included is a cloth cape with a hood, an interchangeable head, a blast effect for the forearm blaster, and three sets of interchangeable hands.

Her articulation includes a ball jointed head, ball jointed torso, ball hinged shoulders, swivel biceps, double-hinged elbows, swivel-hinged wrists, ball jointed hips, swivel waist, swivel thighs, double hinged knees, swivel boots, hinged and rocker ankles.

Stinkor has one of the best looking sculpts in this wave, or even the line for that matter. He’s based on the new series, but pays a great homage to his original design with the orange armor, blue tanks, blue shield, black and white deco and head sculpt that resembles a skunk. This figure however doesn’t have a odor to it like the Masters of the Universe Classics figure had, which is understandable as kids might not like that. His fur is textured and he has red gloves and boots, a new belt and a light reddish-pink lion cloth with a black wash.

His head sculpts are nicely done and both are painted in black and white, with yellow and blue eyes, with the eyes given different expressions. The head on the right has the mask covering his mouth, and while masking is something that we’re all used to now, this mask is meant to protect his mouth and nose from his odor as he too doesn’t like his smell, just like anyone he uses it against.

Update – the blue mask is removable.

Included with Stinkor is an extra interchangeable head, a blue shield, and two sets of interchangeable hands.

His articulation includes a ball jointed head, ball jointed torso, ball hinged shoulders, swivel biceps, double-hinged elbows, swivel-hinged wrists, ball jointed hips, swivel waist, swivel thighs, double hinged knees, swivel boots, hinged and rocker ankles.

Fisto has a great sculpt and my personal favorite in the line so far. The likeness is great to the show, and he includes shared parts with He-Man and Man-At-Arms, including the legs and boots, lion cloth, right and left arms, and chest. What is new is the armor, head, fist and sword, which are unique to him. This figure had a big surprise feature that has never been done before – the fist is made of die-cast, which gives it a little bit of weight and I personally was not expecting this.

The fist came out great, but if you look closely you’ll see that it’s actually two different colors, and that’s because it’s made of two different materials (plastic and die-cast). The forearm part is plastic, and a dark grey with a metallic silver wash, and the fist is metallic silver. Due to how close the deco is though, you could almost miss this detail if the fist wasn’t made of die-cast, which is something that you wouldn’t expect Mattel to do.

His head sculpt is nicely done with great facial details, including a red beard and mustache, hair and sideburns. The eye laches have a darker red tone, almost brown.

Fisto includes his sword, and three left hands. The sword is given a purple handle and a metallic silver blade.

His articulation includes a ball jointed head, ball jointed torso, ball hinged shoulders, swivel biceps, double-hinged elbows, swivel-hinged wrists, ball jointed hips, swivel waist, swivel thighs, double hinged knees, swivel boots, hinged and rocker ankles.

Overall, Mattel’s Masters of the Universe Revelation Masterverse line continues to offer some great looking figures inspired from the series, and this wave is a perfect example of that. You are definitely going to want to jump in on this line, even if you already have the MOTU Classics figures.
