Thank you to Bandai Collectibles for sending along their S.H. Figuarts Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness – Doctor Strange Figure for review.
Availability: October 2022
Doctor Strange is packaged in the standard S.H. Figuarts box, with movie inspired artwork along with images of the figure on the sides and back. Inside, he is packaged in a plastic tray, along with his accessories for safe keeping, and there’s a sheet of instructions behind the diorama backing.
Doctor Strange comes in a brand new outfit, but similar to what we’ve seen before. Including a dark and light blue robe with red trim, a black and brown belt, dark blue pants with black boots, and the Eye of Agamotto sculpted around his neck. The head sculpt features a great likeness and includes nicely done details and sculpted hair, including grey hair on the sides and black, and a brown goatee.
The cloak is made of cloth and wired, allowing you to create some dynamic poses with just the cape alone even before you start playing around with his articulation or accessories. The cape attaches to his back, and you just slide it down as the instructions show (the instructions also specify this is fragile, so be extra careful!).
Included is an assortment of accessories, including 15 additional hand sculpts (7 extra pairs + 1 closed fisted that’s already on his wrists), 2 magic effect parts that work with two of the sets of hands, Serpent effect and stand and a cloak. The cloak comes with an attachment that can be used with a Tamashii Nations stand (not included), and hands as shown. The serpent is nicely done, but it’s hard to balance it on the stand, and the closed fisted hand with the peg on the finger works for the back-end, but does not connect, allowing some difficulty to get this display to pose just right. You’re going to have to tinker with it a bit to get it set up.
Doctor Strange also features all of the articulation that you’ll be used too in the S.H. Figuarts line. Including a ball jointed head, butterfly shoulders, ball-hinged shoulders, swivel biceps, double-hinged elbows, swivel-hinged wrists, ball jointed torso x2 (top and bottom), ball jointed hips, swivel thighs, double-hinged knees, swivel-hinged and rocker ankles and hinged toes.
Overall, Doctor Strange is phenomenal and a great representation of his movie appearance that you need to own. The outfit is amazingly detailed with some great sculpting, attention to detail, and the accessories make this figure totally worth adding do your collection. S.H. Figuarts continues to offers fans a much more accurate figure sculpt, and quality paint applications for the price point, and the interchangeable parts such as the lightning effects are a easy no-brainer to add this figure to your collection.
