This years San Diego Comic-Con 2023 exclusives had some new Hot Wheels exclusives, including Mattel’s AT-ST with Chewbacca Set inspired from Return of the Jedi.In the film, Chewbacca had captured a AT-ST vehicle and used it help defeat the Empire during the Battle of Endor. This set pays tribute to one of the most memorable scenes in the film, and also is part of the 40th anniversary celebration of the film.
Make sure to visit Mattel Creations on July 21, 2023 at 9 AM PST to purchase. The set is priced at $30 USD.

The AT-ST with Chewbacca is packaged in a black box, with logo’s on the front, images on the sides, logo’s and a description on the back. Inside, is a window box wraparound cover, with it being wrapped in tissue for protection. Remove that, and you can see the AT-ST on the front, and sides, and the forest of Endor front and back.
The wraparound cover features the forest of Endor, and you can see Ewok’s and part of the village.
The AT-ST features a light and dark grey wash as seen in the film, and fealties cannons that can lift up and down, with a pivoting front gun, and a swivel top. The legs are non-articulated, and can stand on the included black base. Chewbacca stands at the top with one arm up, and is painted in a brown sculpted fur, a metallic silver bandolier, and nicely done facial deco given the small size.
Overall, the AT-ST set is surely is surely one you need to add to your collection, as it pays tribute to one of the most memorable scenes in the film. It fits in nicely with the Hot Wheels Star Wars collection, and even better the backdrop can be used for not only Hot Wheels, but with 4″ Star Wars figures.
