NYCC 2023 – FanHome Booth Coverage

After the unfortunate demise last year of Eaglemoss, subscribers to their part works model kits were left wondering if anyone would take over their subscriptions, so that they could finish their models. Enter FanHome. The company, run by De Agostini Publishing and Collectibles, has taken on Eaglemoss’ most popular models, such as the Enterprise-D from Star Trek the Next Generation, the DeLorean from Back to the Future, and the Ecto-1 from Ghostbusters.

In addition to those, they have introduced their own model subscriptions, such as KITT from Knight Rider, Optimus Prime from Transformers, and Robocop. This year, they are making their first ever NYCC appearance, and they are showing off their newest kit, a 2ft part works replica of ET, the Extra Terrestrial.

It is a truly impressive model, based on the original and recreated with the help of the original designer, featuring “realistic” rubber skin, as well as an articulated skeleton, lights in the chest and fingertip, eye and mouth motion and sounds.

Here are some interesting facts about ET you may not have known

  • The inspiration for his face, and particularly his eyes, was a Siamese cat
  • The inspiration for his tail, which is not seen in the film, was Donald Duck

Here are some photos of this incredible model.
