Hasbro’s G.I. Joe Classified line get a much needed member of G.I. Joe to the team, and that’s General Hawk as he’s one of the latest releases. When G.I. Joe Classified originally started, the figures were based on some recent artwork and not 80’s inspired as they should have been from the beginning. This was done because Hasbro didn’t know what direction to take this. G.I. Joe in 6″ was a new concept that was never done before, and the brand had jumped around a bit in-house, so you had multiple people working on it for a short time. Sadly, this is true, and I’m not revealing my source on this.
Now, they found a formula that works, and if they would have asked me, and what they’re doing now, is the direction I would have told them to go. General Hawk is inspired from his second figure in G.I. Joe: A Real America Hero in 1986 in the 3 3/4″ line, and is one of his most memorable outfits.

General Hawk is pakacked in the standard Classified box, with beautifully done artwork with windowless packaging, and the cover includes an action shot of the figure and a look of his accessories, and you also see a Cobra Stun going up against a Triple T vehicle behind him, and in the sky is his 1991 flight suit that was also released in the vintage line. The back includes another image of the figure and his accessories. The right side of the packaging has some artwork General Hawk’s face, and the left side shows #103, and below that is the QR code to scan, which takes you to his file card info. In the old days, file cards were printed on the back of the box, and that’s something I would love to see return.
General Hawk is inspired from his 1986 figure in G.I. Joe: A Real America Hero, with the brown flight jacket that looks like leather, with some beautifully done sculpted and painted patches on the jacket and a fur lined collar that’s in a light grey. The patches are all individually painted, and his name tag, Abernathy, is just below his gold flight wing. The jacket also includes a metallic gold zipper in the front, and zippers on the front of the pockets. There are additional pockets below that with no zippers. The shoulders of the jacket also has the G.I. Joe star on the right, and the American flag on the left. The jacket is also weathered, which makes it look more realistic. His pants are green camo and the paint applications applied are as impressive as you’d expect, The boots and gloves are black, and the hands each have trigger fingers for the accessories. The boots also have molded straps, and the pants are tucked into them, which is nicely done.
General Hawk’s head sculpt is also standard for the line, and this style and facial details given to all the figures in this line. The facial details show he’s aged, with some grey hair washed into the brown, which is something you didn’t get to see in the 80’s. The head can also be helmeted, with a green helmet and a black and silver goggles that rest on top.
There are also two holsters for his pistols, one on his chest with a removable chest harness, and one attached to a belt that is loosely around his waist.
General Hawk includes a handful of accessories, including a removable helmet, goggles for the helmet, goggles for his head, two pistols, a grenade launcher with a shoulder strap, and a shotgun. It should be noted that his 1986 release came with the helmet, a backpack that you don’t get here, and one pistol.
His articulation includes a ball jointed head and neck, butterfly shoulders, ball hinged shoulders, swivel biceps, double-hinged elbows, swivel-hinged wrists, ball jointed torso, swivel waist, ball joined hips, swivel thighs, double-hinged knees, hinged and rocker ankles.
Overall, General “Hawk” Clayton Abernathy is a great figure that fans are going to love. He certainly stands out as with this beautiful jacket and metals and badges, Make sure to pick him up and other G.I. Joe Classified figures now at Entertainment Earth.
