Bandai Namco is offering some new figures based on the newly released Dragon Ball Super: SUPER HERO film from 2022. This set includes Gamma 2 and Piccolo, and based on their first encounter in the film when they fought. In Dragon Ball Super: SUPER HERO, the Red Ribbon army returns and the grandson of Dr. Gero, while not a villain like his grandfather, created two heroic androids, Gamma 1 and Gamma 2, and creates Cell Max for the evil Red Ribbon army that recruited him.

Gamma 2 and Piccolo are packaged in a window box, with artwork and logo’s of the characters on the front, images of the characters on the side, and images of the characters and logo’s on the back. Gamma 2 and Piccolo are packaged in a plastic tray, and behind it is a diorama of the sky, mountains, lake and grass, which pays tribute to their encounter and battle.
Piccolo reuses the previous sculpt, without the cape and a new head sculpt, and he comes in the light green skin with Numekian species markings on the arms, chest and the back of the legs, which are beige with a red trim around it. The outfit is purple with a metallic finish, with a red belt around his waist. His head sculpt has the antenna’s, pointy ears, and nicely done facial details.
Gamma 2 also uses the same sculpt used for Gamma 1 and 2 with the closed mouth, with a new head sculpt with an open mouth, which is exclusive to this box set. The outfit is mostly orange, with a blue cape, the number 2 on his chest, light grey, and dark grey. The head sculpt includes the two fins on top, and is both light and dark grey, yellow eyes, and an open mouth. The blaster can be placed on the holster on his hips, and is loosely positioned and can fall out.
Both figures include two sets of interchangeable hands, and Gamma 2 comes with his blaster.
Piccolo’s articulation includes a ball jointed head, ball jointed neck, swivel-hinged shoulders, swivel biceps, double-hinged elbows, swivel-hinged wrists, ball jointed torso, swivel waist, ball jointed hips, double-hinged knees, and ball joined ankles (with limited movement).
Gamma 2’s articulation includes a ball jointed head, ball jointed neck, swivel-hinged shoulders, swivel biceps, double-hinged elbows, swivel-hinged wrists, ball jointed torso, swivel waist, ball jointed hips, double-hinged knees, and ball joined ankles.
The blaster for Gamma 2 has the face of a shark, fins on top, green eyes and the #2 on both sides. This is painted in white, blue and light grey, and can be placed in either of his open grip hands. Piccolo’s closed fisted hands works well for him, and we’ve seen these hands offered with all of his previous releases.
Gamma 2’s other hands have three fingers pointing up, and Piccolo’s energy hands have also been seen, and continue to work well for him. One day they will hopefully offer his “special beam cannon” hand in the Dragon Ball Stars line, as that is something we haven’t gotten before.
Piccolo and Gamma 2 are featured here along with some comparisons, and these new releases offer something different that you don’t already have. The new heads work well, and match the characters personality nicely.
Overall, Gamma 2 and Piccolo are excellent figures that fans are definitely going to want to add to their collection. This set may be underrated, as the new heads certainly does warrant a purchase for those of you that may already have these characters, and getting Piccolo without the cape is certainly a plus. Amazon currently has the set down to $30 if you want to save $10.
