Hasbro’s latest wave of G.I. Joe Classified figures is a strong one, and includes Quick Kick, Techno-Viper, Big Boa, Franklin Airborne Talltree, as well as Retro carded Duke, Recondo, and Scarlett. Big Boa is inspired from his 1987 figure offered in O-ring sytyle, and is offered in 6″ scale for the first-time. Franklin “Airborne” Talltree is inspired from his 1983 O-ring 3 3/4″ figure. Back in 1983, Hasbro offered several variations, including a mail-in figure from Hasbro that came in a polybag, and a carded figure. These figures had variations that included thick and thin chevrons on their arms.

Airborne is packaged in the standard G.I. Joe Classified window box, with artwork and logo’s on the front, sides and an image of the figure on the back.
Airborne is inspired from his 1983 O-ring 3 3/4″ figure and makes his debut in the 6″ G.I. Joe Classified line. He comes in a beige jumpsuit, with a red and black insignia on the left shoulder, a blue vest with green and brown straps that is also connected to the straps on his hips, which also includes a holster for the pistol. He also has brown boots, the vest also has a holster for the knife, pouches, and the jumpsuit has brown knee and elbow pads. The torso and arms are reused from Scrap-Iron.
His head sculpt is given a modern update and the facial details look great. This is as detailed as some other 6″ figures from this line, Star Wars The Black Series and Marvel Legends.
Included with Airborne is a backpack, helmet, goggles, covered goggles, night vision goggles, a machine gun, a silencer, a pistol and a knife.
The helmet and goggles are all placed as shown, and the night vision goggles plugs into the helmet.
The backpack has non-removable accessories including a shovel, and the machine gun and pistol has a silencer that works for both, and the knife can be placed in his hand.
He is fully articulated and includes a ball jointed head and neck, butterfly shoulders, ball hinged shoulders, swivel biceps, double-hinged elbows, swivel-hinged wrists, ab crunch, ball jointed waist, waist rotation, ball joined hips, swivel thighs, double-hinged knees, hinged and rocker ankles.
Overall, Airborne is a great figure with a bulky jumpsuit, and as he prefers to jump out of airplanes, it makes sense to have him bulky like this. No parachute as part of the backpack, but he’s a great update and something that fans will enjoy. Make sure to pick him up and other G.I. Joe Classified figures now at Entertainment Earth.
