Hasbro’s latest wave of G.I. Joe Classified figures is a strong one, and includes Quick Kick, Techno-Viper, Big Boa, Franklin Airborne Talltree, as well as Retro carded Duke, Recondo, and Scarlett. Duke is inspired from his 1984 figure offered in O-ring sytyle, and is offered in 6″ scale and for the first-time, he is solely based on his vintage figure in this scale, and not something different compared to what Hasbro had offered earlier on in this line for Duke.
The Retro part of the G.I. Joe Classified line is solely inspired from the vintage line of the 1980’s, and you’ll be getting figures on his cardback in retro toy deco and accessories. The window box offerings will also have inspiration of the vintage line, however, there will be some updates to the characters to modernize them a bit when needed (ex: head sculpt, armor, accessories, etc.).

Duke is packaged in the Retro inspired blister card, with vintage style artwork, with artwork of him on the front, a bio and images of this wave on the back, which also includes Recondo and Scarlett.’
Duke is inspired from his 1984 o-ring 3 3/4″ figure and is given the 6″ treatment for the first-time in this deco. He comes in his tan shirt, with green pants, brown boots, dark green strap around his torso, belt, and holsters for the pistol and knife. The American flag is on his left shoulder and it was originally a decal with the o-ring figure. He also has a metallic gold symbol on his chest, and a green collar that overlaps the tan one. Two of the pouches on his belt are also brown, and it does stand out when looking closely at him.
His head sculpt includes blonde hair with a wash, and facial details with sculpted and painted eye brows.
Included with Duke is a base, helmet, machine gun, shotgun, binoculars, pistol, knife, backpack, and an extra set of closed fisted hands. The original o-ring figure had less accessories, and only had the machine gun, helmet, binoculars, backpack and a decal, so this new 6″ release gets some bonus accessories.
All geared up he can hold most of his accessories, including the pistol and knife as they fit into the holsters. The helmet includes a visor, and his open grip hands can hold his machine gun and/or shotgun firmly as he has trigger fingers. The backpack has a non-removable shovel with G.I. Joe written on, and the binoculars can fit in his hand, and over his head.
The base helps him stand in a way that wouldn’t work without one, so you can bend his knees or create a running pose to help him stand. It has two pegs for the holes on both of the feet. All of the accessories fit in firmly in his open grip hands, so you don’t have to worry about them falling out. The closed fisted hands works great for punching and posing as well.
He is fully articulated and includes a ball jointed head and neck, butterfly shoulders, ball hinged shoulders, swivel biceps, double-hinged elbows, swivel-hinged wrists, ab crunch, ball jointed waist, waist rotation, ball joined hips, swivel thighs, double-hinged knees, hinged and rocker ankles.
Overall, Duke is a great figure and getting a modern o-ring deco update in this line is long overdue. This is the Duke figure that fans have been waiting for especially if you remember the days of o-ring figures in the 1980’s and 1990’s. Make sure to pick him up and other G.I.
