FanHome Optimus Prime Build Up Model – Box #3 (Stages 7-10) Review

Hi Everyone, this is Rob Hull from Plastic Buffet reporting for ToyHypeUSA. This time, I am presenting the next part in a series of articles following the progress of the Optimus Prime Build Up Model from FanHome. Previously, I have built the first six stages of the model, which consist of Optimus’ head, one part of the right chest piece, The torso plate, one of the right cab windows and most of the right foot. When finished, the model will be two feet tall and will have lighting elements. As before, each stage of the model comes with a magazine containing articles about the Transformers live action movie, the animated series, the original toy line and the main characters, as well as the building instructions for each stage of the model.

Here is the video of this part of the build

This time around, I will be building stages 7-10, which will complete the right foot and begin the construction of the right leg. CAUTION: AS I HAVE NOTED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS ALREADY, THIS MODEL CONTAINS THE SMALLEST SCREWS I HAVE EVER WORKED WITH. BE VERY CAREFUL WITH THE SCREWS, AS YOU CAN EASILY STRIP THE HEADS OF THE SCREWS IF YOU TRY TO FORCE THEM. ALSO, KEEP THEM AWAY FROM THE EDGE OF THE TABLE, BECAUSE IF YOU DROP ONE, IT WILL NOT BE EASY TO FIND.

Here is everything you get to start in Box #3

We’ll begin the build with Stage 7, which builds parts of the sole of the right foot. Here are the parts for Stage 7, before the build, as well as a look inside the magazine

And after the build, you can see the additions to the main part of the foot, which was completed in the previous stages, as well, as the sole of the foot, which will be attached in the next step.

Next up is Stage 8, which will see the inner right wheel added to the foot. Here are the pieces for Stage 8 before the build, as well as look inside the magazine.

And, after the build, here is the foot, complete with inner wheel.

Next up, is Stage 9, which will see the final stabilizer added to the sole of the foot, the sole attached and the rear wheel from the previous stages added, completing the right foot. CAUTION: THERE IS A STEP IN THIS STAGE THAT REQUIRES PLIERS TO HOLD AND PUSH A VERY TINY METAL BAR INTO A VERY TINY SLOT. IT CANNOT BE DONE WITHOUT PLIERS. Here are the parts for Stage 9, as well as a look inside the magazine.

And, after the build, here is Optimus Prime’s fully assembled right foot in all it’s glory.

The final stage in this box is Stage 10. This stage begins construction of Optimus’ right leg. It also builds one of Optimus’ waist accent pieces. Here is a look at the pieces for Stage 10, and a look inside the magazine.

And here, after the build, is the beginning of what will end up a being a fairly substantial looking right leg.

So, here, at the end of these four stages, is the finished product of the completed stages.

Next time, in Box #4, which contains Stages 11-14, we will continue building the right leg. If you would like to build this, or any other of FanHome’s amazing model kits for yourself, visit them at http://www.fanhome.com.

I would like to thank Erik and the entire team at FanHome for providing this amazing model. I can’t wait to see how this takes shape. It should be extremely impressive when finished.
