Disney Store Exclusive Marvel Toy Box – Doctor Strange Figure Review

The Disney Store is now offering new Toy Box figures of Dr. Strange from Marvel, and Violet from Incredibles 2. Doctor Strange apparently never made it into the Disney: Infinity game, and this design is more of a what if he had been featured.

The Toy Box figures are based on the Disney: Infinity game designs, and are re-engineered and articulated. In the game, franchises could interact throughout all of Disney’s properties such as Marvel, Star Wars and Disney/Pixar characters. Fans of that game can now collect highly detailed and articulated figures based on those designs.

Recently, Disney Store announced additional characters that will be included to the Toy Box line-up, which includes Ant-Man, Wasp and Star-Lord (reviewed HERE) for Marvel, Han Solo and Chewbacca for Star Wars, and The Incredibles – Violet (reviewed HERE), Dash and Frozone for Pixar. Additional characters have yet to be confirmed.

Thank you to Disney and the Disney Store for providing their exclusive Star Wars Toy Box Doctor Strange Figure for review.

Disney Infinity was Disney’s version of LEGO Dimensions, where franchises collide and characters can interact. These figures are loosely based on this game, and have been re-engineered and articulated to resemble the game’s likeness. Doctor Strange, Ant-Man, Wasp and Star-Lord are the latest offerings in the Marvel Toy Box line, with other characters, as mentioned above to join the line at some point in the near future.

Doctor Strange stands at roughly 5 1/4″ tall and is based on his appearance as seen in his own Doctor Strange film, Spider-Man: Homecoming and Avengers: Infinity War. Doctor Strange is in an outfit with two shades of blue, with the lighter blue on his chest, and the darker blue on his arms and belt around his waist. There is also his medallion that rests on his chest. His legs are cast in black, and the entire outfit includes nicely detailed sculpted patterns and designs as fans would expect. His head sculpt has a nice likeness of him and has the appearance and likeness of Actor Benedict Cumberbatch. The facial details are nicely done especially the hair and the grey piece of hair on the sides. His eyes are painted in green and he has the black beard and mustache, along with pink lips.

The cape is also going above and beyond what you would expect. The interior of the cape has a detailed texture and design to it that you wouldn’t expect from this figure, and the pattern looks like basket weaving. The back of the cape also has textures and patterns that are nicely sculpted and designed. The bottom of the cape is picked up from the floor by a breeze or something, and the top of it fits over his shoulders nicely. The cape is removable and there is a peg on the upper part of it that fits inside the hole on Doctor Strange’s back. Doctor Strange is surely one of the better sculpted figures in the Marvel Toy Box and fans will surely enjoy the extra attention that he got.

Overall, Disney Infinite was a great video game, and we are loving this new line by Disney. The Marvel Toy Box figures are great additions to any Marvel toy collection, and definitely something that all fans should own. Doctor Strange features a great sculpt and excellent detail and quality. Fans will definitely want to add him to their collection.
