Overview

DC Collectibles – DC Icons Supergirl Figure

DC Collectibles upcoming DC Icons single pack offerings include Nightwing and Supergirl. As of now, there are only a handful of single packaging Icons figures going to be offered after the announced cancellation of other figures such as Shazam, Sinestro, and Deadshot. However, the Blue Beetle and Booster Gold 2 pack is still coming.

Supergirl is not available just yet, and this is an advance look at this upcoming figure that is shipping sometime in September 2017.

Supergirl is numbered as 25 of the line, and is based on her appearance as seen in the DC Rebirth storyline. DC Rebirth is a massive DC Universe initiative published in 2016. The event follows the ending of The New 52, a publishing era that rebooted DC continuity in 2011 after the Flashpoint crossover. Its name is taken from the earlier series’ Green Lantern: Rebirth and The Flash: Rebirth, both written by Geoff Johns and focusing on returning their characters to an earlier status quo while updating the premises for new audiences. The initiative is intended to synchronize and harmonize the Post-Flashpoint continuity and the Post-Crisis continuity.

Thank you to DC Collectibles for providing their DC Icons Supergirl figure for an advanced look and review.

Availability: September 2017

Supergirl stands slightly over 6″ tall and is based on her appearance from the DC Comics storyline DC Rebirth. Supergirl is sculpted in her iconic red and blue outfit, and the red and yellow Superman logo sculpted on her chest, and painted on the back of her cape. The outfit is sculpted smooth and tight to her build, with the exception of the skirt that is made of soft plastic, that is also used for the cape. The skirt and cape are sculpted with realistic folds. and there is gold trim on the top of the skirt. The legs are nearly covered with the tall boots, and are painted as the same red as shade used on the logo on her chest. It’s unclear if the red deco is the same tone used for the entire figure, as the material for the skirt and cape is lighter, and what is painted on the hard plastic came out a little darker. The head sculpt is just stunning, and she includes wavy blonde hair, blue eyes, and nice facial details.

A second head sculpt is also included, with the laser eye effects that both she has. This head sculpt has holes in the eyes, and the effects plug into it. This part is fragile, and breakage on the effects would occur if some caution isn’t kept.

The articulation is what you would expect, and he includes a ball jointed neck, ball-hinged shoulders, double-hinged elbows, swivel-hinged wrists, ball jointed chest, ab crunch, ball jointed hips, double-hinged knees, and hinged rocker ankles. The cape does block some of the articulation on her shoulders due to it being wrapped around the shoulders.

Also included are three sets of interchangeable hand sculpts, (fisted, open handed and flying open handed), an acrylic flight base, an extra head sculpt with two laser eye effects that plug into the eyes.

Overall, Supergirl features a great likeness to the comic that fans will love.
