NECA Toys have released their Valerian And The City Of A Thousand Planets 7″ Scale Figures, and this wave includes Dane DeHaan as Valerian, Cara Delevigne as Laureline, and K-Tron, a police robot. Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets follows a pair of space-and-time-traveling special agents on a mission to the unimaginably huge intergalactic city of Alpha.
In the 28th century, special operatives Valerian (Dane DeHaan) and Laureline work together to maintain order throughout the human territories. Under assignment from the minister of defense, the duo embarks on a mission to Alpha, an ever-expanding metropolis where diverse species gather to share knowledge and culture. When a dark force threatens the peaceful city, Valerian and Laureline must race against time to identify the menace that also jeopardizes the future of the universe.

NECA Toys have once again outdone themselves with this realistically detailed line-up of action figures based on the 2017 film. This wave includes Valerian, based on the likeness of Dane DeHaan, Laureline, based on the likeness of Cara Delevigne, and police robot K-Tron.
K-Tron is the tallest of the wave, and stands at over 8″ tall, and features a smooth sculpt with glossy black deco. The sculpt includes some nicely detailed curves on the chest and back, as well as what appears to be a spine on his back. The upper parts of the arms and legs have a metallic gold stripe around it, and the shoulder pads have a white pattern or logo. The head sculpt is quite unique compared to a Terminator, and this robot has a oval shaped head that is rounded in the back, and thinner towards the front. This is attached to a neck that is bulky and long. The chest part is also on the beefy side, with a thin waistline and hips. The legs and arms are also long, and this part of the sculpt has the smooth detail with some curved lines.
The articulation includes a swivel-hinged neck, swivel shoulders, hinged elbows in two places, swivel forearm, hinged wrists, ball jointed chest, ball-hinged hips, double hinged knees, hinged and rocker ankles.
He comes fully armed with a blaster that features a scope, along with a realistic looking sculpt from the film. The blaster can fit in both hands.
Valerian and Laureline are sculpted in combat gear as seen in the film, which includes a metallic dark grey and black suit that features some of the best realistic sculpting we’ve seen from NECA this year. The suits are similar, but also are slightly different for the male and female design. This includes differences with the chest, a differently styled helmet neck piece, belt, arms, and upper legs. The sculpting on the suits are unique to each other, and with the exception of the accessories, and the holster for the pistol, there isn’t any reused parts.
Both suits have smooth and detailed lines and curves carved into it. The neck pieces for the helmets have some of the most detailed sculpts on the figure, and these include textured pattern on the inside that matches the pattern on the hips. The figures neck is covered by a black turtle neck/brace. The chests have smooth parts where the dark grey is located, and the lines and textured parts are black. The back has ports that the helmet plugs into. There are two belts for the female suit, and one oft he male suit, and each has different accessories other than the holster connected to it. The legs have straps on the thighs, along with smooth and textured parts detailing this incredibly designed suit. The sides of the boots have a circular pattern on either side, that is sculpted on.
The head sculpts have a great likeness to the actor, with great facial details, and even a cut on Valerian’s left cheek. The articulation includes a ball jointed neck (with limited movement due to the neck brace), swivel shoulders, swivel-hinged elbows, swivel wrists, ball jointed chest, ball-hinged hips, hinged knees, hinged and rocker ankles.
Included with each figure is a small blaster that is painted in black and white, and a dagger that is also painted in black and white with a silver blade.
Overall, these figures are incredibly detailed with a superior likeness. The suits are truly something special, and really brings out the detail in the figure. K-Tron is the second best of the wave, and features his own amazingly detailed sculpt.
