Funko – Stranger Things Figure 3-Packs Review

Stranger Things made its debut on Netflix in 2016, which takes place in a small Indiana town in 1983. The series was written, directed and co-executive produced by the Duffer Brothers, and is a science fiction-horror story that has become a pop culture icon. The series follows the disappearance of Will, and introduces fans to a supernatural world opposite of our own with creatures that can enter our world through rips through reality. The first season also includes the appearance of a girl with psychokinetic abilities who helps the missing boy’s friends in their own search.  The series currently has two seasons screaming on Netflix, with the second season titled Stranger Things 2, and focuses on the continuing story of the first season.

Funko is offering 3.75″ scale action figures, with the box sets known as Pack A and Pack B. Pack A includes Eleven, Lucus and Mike, and Pack B includes Will, Dusty, and a Demogorgon. There are also single packages being offered, and it appears that these are the exact same figures with no changes to the deco as offered in the box sets.

During New York Comic-Con 2017, Funko offered an exclusive box set of Will, Eleven and a Demogorgon variant figures, which you can pick up for $17 on Amazon.com at this time.

Thank you to Funko for providing their Stranger Things 3.75″ box sets and Eleven single carded figures for review.

The Stranger Things 3.75″ figures by Funko are well made and includes additional articulation as they are no longer offering ReAction figures with Super 7. The figures feature a basic likeness to the the Actors, and are each sculpted and painted in clothing that they are most remembered for as wearing on the show. Most of the core cast as offered in this line-up, including all of the kids plus Eleven, and a Demogorgon creature that is just menacing looking.

Almost all of the kids (except for Will) includes accessories as shown on the show, as well as the four boys include removable backpacks. The paint applications here are beyond expected, which includes nicely painted clothing and thin crisp lines such as Mike’s shirt, Lucus’ sleeves, Will’s sleeves and Eleven’s socks. Dustin’s shirt also has some great deco as well as Eleven’s Eggo box. These paint applications that Funko has been working with lately have been turning out very well, as also previously seen with their Mortal Kombat X figures.

The articulation on these 3.75″ scale figures have a fair amount, with a ball jointed neck, swivel-hinged shoulders, hinged elbows, hinged hips, and hinged knees. The joints on some of these figures are loose, and a few of them have some difficulty standing. Eleven also has swivel wrists, and her skirt is made of a soft plastic.

These are slightly smaller compared to other 3.75″ lines such as G.I. Joe and Star Wars, but at the same time these are children compared to grow men in this scale, so it all works out. Their accessories are nicely detailed as they appeared on the series. Mike includes a 80’s phone, Lucus includes a slingshot, binoculars and a small piece that inserts into the back of his head (we just learned where that piece goes after the photo shoot was taken and most of this was already written), Dustin includes a can, and Eleven includes a waffle and a box of Eggo’s. Their backpacks are similar, and if you look closely these are almost all slightly different in sculpting as well as a different color. The only exception here is Dustin’s and Will’s backpack are identical, and Will and Lucu’s backpacks’s are unique.

The Demogorgon looks frightening, and poor Barb never had a chance when you’re up against a creature that looks like this. The creature is also scaled to 3.75″, and stands at almost 5″ tall and looks alien in origin with a venus flytrap for a face. The body is packed with detail and great sculpting, and looks as though his skeletal structures can be seen through the skin. The figure has a dark wash over the light colors, and that face is just too good not to love this figure. The face is made up of five sections that open up from the head, and each section has teen, including around the edges, all leading up to the black hole for a mouth as he devours his prey.

The figure is nicely articulated, but does have some loose joints especially in the armor and legs. He includes a ball jointed neck, swivel-hinged shoulders, hinged elbows, hinged forearms, swivel hips, hinged knees, and hinged ankles. He has more articulation than the children, and the overall design and quality on him looks great.

Overall, the Stranger Things 3.75″ scale figures by Funko are nicely done and detailed just as they appeared on the show. Fans of the show will definitely enjoy these figures and their great paint applications and accessories.
