At this years WrestleMania Axxess in New Orleans, Mattel held a booth showcasing many upcoming and recently released WWE action figures for 2018, which includes the extremely popular 6″ line, Retro figures, WWE Monsters, WWE Zombies and more. For the past decade or so, Mattel has been offering nothing but top notch Wrestling figures that are stylized similar to their DC figures, which includes the 6″ scale body that is muscular and articulated and each resembles a perfect likeness to the Wrestler. In addition to this collection, Mattel expanded the line with WWE Retro figures that are similar to the way they were in the 1990’s when Hasbro had the license, and these figures have action gimmicks that you normally no longer see. This poster however is all about the 6″ Elite Collection figure line of Mattel’s highly detailed figures from multiple era’s going back from the 1980’s, such as the legendary Andrea the Giant, to today’s WWE Superstars of both genders.

This poster was given to attendees at the Mattel booth that stopped by during each day, and also had a limited amount given out making this poster a collectible amongst Wrestling fans. The poster measures 18 x 24, and features more than 60 WWE Superstars dating back from the 1980’s, 1990’s, 2000’s as well as today all in the WWE Elite Collection. All of the figures shown are either newly released or upcoming figures for 2018, and some of these were even on display at the Mattel booth at WrestleMania Axxess.
WrestleMania has had 34 events going back from 1985, and has seen many WWE Superstars fight for either a championship belt or some other title. This event has seen some of our favorite all time matches, such as the classic 1990 match that saw Ultimate Warrior vs. Hulk Hogan for the WWF Intercontinental Heavyweight and World Heavyweight Championships, and this is one of the most legendary matches of all time. Ironically, despite Hulk Hogan appearing in many of the earlier WrestleMania’s, he is not shown in this poster.
Each figure in this poster is posed and displayed with their accessories and/or in an action pose, with most of the figures shown in a ring, and others in a stadium seating in the back, as well as a few figures on the floor. Macho Man Randy Savage appears on the very bottom along with two other superstars (one is Finn Balor) with their heads blown up, and this makes the bottom of the poster very eye appealing. Many other characters dating back from the golden age of Wrestling appear behind him in the ring and stadium seating, which includes Andrea the Giant, Doink the Clown, Earthquake, the Ultimate Warrior, Brutus the Beefcake Barber, Brett the Hitman Hart (in a King’s outfit), George “The Animal” Steele, Virgil, Jake the Snake Roberts, Bobby the Brain Heaton and many more as we cannot name them all.
Overall, this is a beautiful poster with an excellent photography and character selection that should make every Wrestling fan happy. We especially like how each figure is displayed and posed and this doesn’t even look overcrowded given the fact that more than 60 WWE Superstars appear in it. While the poster is no longer available, fans can still collect the figures shown as well as other offerings at the links below. If you are a collector of Mattel’s WWE line, you are amongst many that are enjoying this golden age of action figures that are styled with some of the best sculpting and articulation ever offered in the franchise.
