Jakks Pacific is offering three Solo: A Star Wars Story Big Figs of Han Solo, Chewbacca and a Mud Trooper Big Figs in the first assortment of this line-up. Solo: A Star Wars Story is the latest film that is opening in theaters on May 25th, 2018, and takes place prior to the events of Star Wars: A New Hope, The film explores the adventures of a young Han Solo, with his sidekick Chewbacca during their first encounter with Lando Calrissian and the events that happened before they joined the rebellion..
Each figure features seven points of articulation and are fully poseable. The accessories included are a blaster for Han Solo, and a fabric cloak for the Mud Trooper.

These Star Wars Big Figs capture a good likeness to how the Actors and outfits appear in Solo: A Star Wars Story, and the first wave includes Han Solo, Chewbacca and a Mud Trooper. These figures stand 18″ – 20″ tall and both Han Solo and the Mud Trooper includes blasters.
Han Solo stands at 18″ tall and features the likeness of Actor Alden Ehrenreich. He is sculpted in his classic flight jacket that is painted in a dark brown with black on the shoulders, a dark grey shirt, black pants with brown stripes down the center of the pants, a brown belt with pockets, a silver belt buckle, a holster for the blaster that is connected to the belt and hangs down his right leg, and accessories connected to the belt. The clothing also has realistic folds and wrinkles on the jacket, shirt, pants and boots, which is a nice touch.
The head sculpt is nicely done with a good likeness to the Actor, and he has brown hair that is combed to the sides, with brown eye lashes, and nice facial details including the eyes, nose, mouth and ears. The included blaster is the same as the one he was seen with in A New Hope and other Star Wars films, which can fit nicely in the holster as well as his trigger finger.
Han Solo has seven points of articulation, which includes a swivel neck. swivel shoulders, swivel wrists, and swivel hips.
Chewbacca stands at 20″ tall and has the most detailed sculpt in the wave. The entire figure sculpt is covered in fur, which is packed with multiple textures that detail the outer layers of the fur. The fur is sculpted in a wavy pattern with multiple hairs sculpted together, and the overall design and detail on this figure is beyond impressive. While Chewbacca does not have an accessory to hold in his hand, despite the fact that he has a trigger finger hand sculpt. Chewbacca has a chest harness with two straps on the chest, as opposed to one that was seen in A New Hope and other Star Wars movies. The chest harness is painted in brown, with silver accessories sculpted in the holsters. There are also pockets on the harness, and the bag hangs down his right hip.
Chewbacca’s hands and feet are painted black, white the fur is painted with light and dark brown with the top of his head dark, and the lower half of his head light brown, and that pattern follows right down to the lower part of the legs.
The head sculpt is nicely detailed and has the same style of fur as the rest of the body. The facial details are nicely done including the eyes, hose and mouth.
Chewbacca has seven points of articulation, which include a swivel neck, swivel shoulders, swivel wrists, and swivel hips, There is also a cut across his waist that looks like another point of articulation, but it’s not, and does look misleading and is also looks out of place despite having such a detailed sculpt.
The Mud Trooper stands at 18″ tall and is a new type of Stormtrooper that will appear in Solo: A Star War Story, so we’re not going to give details about the trooper himself here as that would be considered a spoiler, which we don’t want to do. The Mud Trooper is covered in armor, which includes a helmet with breathing tubes, goggles, a clothed hood, skirt and cape, and the armor is primarily painted in a dark grey, as is the skirt around the hips. The outfit underneath the armor is painted in a light grey, which has realistic folds and wrinkles. The belt has two straps in front, which combine together to form one in the back. The legs are painted in a darker grey, and the lower legs have the green armor with straps around the boots. The Mud Trooper also has a red band on his armor, which most likely is a form of command amongst the troops.
The helmet is the most detailed part about the sculpt, which includes silver speakers on either side of the mouth, black tubes around them, silver goggles, a black straps with silver belt buckles around the helmet, and the helmet itself is painted in the same grey with smooth. The helmet is not removable, but the front part of it has all the details needed and looks just like it does in the film.
The Mud Trooper has seven points of articulation, which includes a swivel neck, swivel shoulders, swivel wrists, and swivel hips. He also includes a blaster that can fit in his right hand/trigger finger.
Overall, Jakks Pacific has once again offered incredibly detailed collectible figures with superior quality. Chewbacca and the Mud Trooper are our personal favorites of the group, with Chewbacca’s sculpted fur and the Mud Troopers fabric hood, cape and helmet details, there is a lot to love about these figures, and you cannot beat the price at $19.99 considering what you get.
