Disney Store Exclusive Marvel Toy Box – Ant-Man & The Wasp Figures Review

The Disney Store is now offering their Marvel Toy Box exclusive Ant-Man and The Wasp Figures as part of this weeks celebration of the live-action Ant-Man Movie, which hits theaters on July 6th.

The Toy Box figures are based on the Disney: Infinity game designs, and are re-engineered and articulated. In the game, franchises could interact throughout all of Disney’s properties such as Marvel, Star Wars and Disney/Pixar characters. Fans of that game can now collect highly detailed and articulated figures based on those designs.

Recently, Disney Store announced additional characters that will be included to the Toy Box line-up, which includes Ant-Man, Wasp and Star-Lord (reviewed HERE) for Marvel, Han Solo, Chewbacca and Yoda for Star Wars, and The Incredibles – Violet (reviewed HERE), Dash and Frozone for Pixar.

They also recently announced an extension of the line called Disney Toy Box, which includes Micky Mouse, Jack Skeleton, Big Hero 6 and more. Additional characters are in grey on the brochure that came with Ant-Man and The Wasp. It also looks as though Drax the Destroyer is the next Marvel Toy Box figure coming, assuming this is correct. We will update once we know more.

Thank you to Disney and the Disney Store for providing their exclusive Ant-Man & The Wasp for review. In addition, the Disney Store is offering clothing and collectibles based on Marvel Studios – The First Ten Years cinema celebration, which we added a new hat to the gallery that was also sent along for us to check out.

Availability: July 2018

Disney Infinity was Disney’s version of LEGO Dimensions, where franchises collide and characters can interact. These figures are loosely based on this game, and have been re-engineered and articulated to resemble the game’s likeness. Doctor Strange, Ant-Man, Wasp and Star-Lord are the latest offerings in the Marvel Toy Box line, with other characters, as mentioned above to join the line at some point in the near future.

Ant-Man and The Wasp stands at 5″ and slightly over 5″ respectively and are based on their appearances as seen in the Disney Infinity game, and also resemble their modern costumes.

Ant-Man is in his dark grey, light grey and red costume. The outfit is mostly dark grey, with light grey making up the majority of the helmet, gauntlets, belt and the piece over his shoulders and upper back. The red details parts of his chest, arms, legs, back, eyes, and some tiny detail on the helmet. His articulation includes a ball jointed neck, ball hinged shoulders, ball hinged elbows, swivel-hinged wrists, swivel waist, swivel-hinged hips, swivel-hinged knees, and swivel-hinged ankles. Included with Ant-Man is a miniature Wasp figure on a flying stand. Wasp and the stand are made of a soft plastic and given the size, she has remarkable amount of detail. She is attached to the stand and cannot be removed. She also has wings that are detailed and also attached to her back.

Wasp is in her black, yellow and red costume that is also her modern look. Her outfit is mostly cast in black, with yellow on her chest, and detailed lines on her legs, back and wings. The red deco is mostly lines on her arms, chest, lower legs and the piece that the wings are connected too. The wings/backpack are removable, and there are two large and two smaller wings that can swivel up and down. The wings are made of a clear translucent plastic with yellow lines almost touching the top. Like Ant-Man, she too is helmeted and the helmet is grey and black, with yellow eyes. Her articulation includes a ball jointed neck, ball hinged shoulders, ball hinged elbows, swivel-hinged wrists, swivel waist, swivel-hinged hips, swivel-hinged knees, and swivel-hinged ankles. This is in addition to the four swivel joints on her wings.

Overall, Disney Infinite was a great video game, and we are loving this new line by Disney. The Marvel Toy Box figures are great additions to any Marvel toy collection, and definitely something that all fans should own. Both Ant-Man and Wasp features a great sculpt and excellent detail and quality. Fans will definitely want to add him to their collection. Make sure to check out the gallery, and go see Ant-Man in theaters on July 6th.
