Hero Ash features an updated sculpt than the previous offering that NECA offered in a single package, with the torso, arms chainsaw and one head sculpt being reused, and newly tooled hips, legs as well as the possessed deer head and rifle. The figure has a great likeness to Actor Bruce Campbell, with detailed facial sculpts, clothing and accessories. He comes with three head sculpts with unique features and expressions from each other, and only the surprised look on his face was used on the original release. The other two head sculpts are new, including the angry and normal face look. All three heads have blood on them, with is splatted with red deco. The torn blue shirt has a light wash over it, as well as blood stains, and the legs are now articulated. The pants also have a ash over them, and the left lower leg also has a torn on it. The chainsaw is almost completely spattered in blood as it was used to cut Deadite Ed’s head in half, with silver deco. On Ash’s chest is a harness with straps painted in black, with silver buckles that holds the rifle holster on his back. His articulation includes a ball jointed neck, swivel-hinged shoulders, swivel-hinged elbows, swivel-hinged wrists, ball jointed torso, ball jointed hips, swivel-hinged knees and ball jointed ankles.
Also included with Ash is the Necronomicon book that opens up to two pages inside, a possessed deer head, a bone dagger, and a rifle.
Deadite Ed is a brand new offering that’s exclusive to this 2-pack, and features two interchangeable head sculpts. On one of the head sculpts, his head can split in half as seen in the film, which is based on when Ash cuts in head with the chainsaw and splits it. Both of the head sculpts have a hinged jaw, and the deadite details done on both heads and well as the forearms and hands are nicely done. The head that splits in head has green blood. The white demon eyes as well as the details to the mouth, teeth and hands are some of the best sculpting on this figure, not to mention the green blood and detailed sculpting of the brain. Ed is sculpted in his striped shirt with beige dress pants, a black belt, black shoes, and beige skin with textures. His articulation includes a ball jointed neck and hinged jaw, swivel-hinged shoulders, swivel-hinged elbows, swivel-hinged wrists, ball jointed torso, ball jointed hips, swivel-hinged knees and ball jointed ankles.
Overall, this Evil Dead 2 set is a great offering and features some excellent character likeness, sculpting and deco as NECA fans are used too. Hero Ash has new leg articulation that wasn’t previously offered, and Deadite Ed is a superb figure with great attention to detail. Fans of the line will surely love this set.
