Mattel is now offering their Wal-Mart Exclusive Harley Quinn and Spoiler figures that are part of the upcoming Collect & Connect DC Rebirth Lex Luthor figure wave, which includes Vixen, Simon Baz, Ray, Rebirth Wonder Woman and Gaslight Batman. Harley Quinn is inspired by her recent comic appearances including her own standalone issues, and Spoiler is also based on her appearance in modern issues.

Thank you to Mattel for providing their Harley Quinn and Spoiler figures for review.

Availability: October 2018

Harley Quinn and Spoiler are packaged in blister cards with comic art on the front, sides and back of the packaging. On the back there is also a bio of the character as well as images of the figures in wave 9. Also on the back is an image of the Collect & Connect Lex Luthor figure, along with the Mother Box that comes with this Harley Quinn figure and the Darkseid head that is placed on the body that comes with Spoiler. The Lex Luthor body is comparable with the Darkseid head, and you have the option to switch it out.

Harley Quinn has become a very popular character among movie goers following her debut in Suicide Squad, but most people that are familiar with the character and watching were watching 1992’s Batman: The Animated Series remember the character from those days. This figure is based on her appearance in recent issues from DC Comics, including her own title. Some common complaints about this figure are the proportions of the body and there is even some discussion about sloppy paint applications (which goes on a figure to figure basis). Harley Quinn is sculpted in her iconic red and black costume appearance that has these colors in opposite sides as shown. She is sculpted in a leather jacket that is made of a soft plastic, and a top that fits tightly over her chest, shorts, and stockings. There are diamond shapes (and one star on the shirt) on places including the sleeves, kneess and stockings, the shirt and upper left hand side of the jacket. Her shoes also painted in red and black with white shoe laces, trim and the bottom of them. The belt is painted in silver with a yellow star.

The head sculpt does have a slight question to it as far as the proportions,  and she has a black necklace around the neck. The hair is painted in yellow with blue and red highlights on the ponytails. She has some nice painted details on her face including red lipstick and black eye shadows. Her skin tone is painted in white. Included with Harley Quinn is a hammer, a gun with a removable flag that says bang, accessories for her shoes, and a Mother Box. Her articulation includes a ball jointed neck with limited range of movement, ball jointed hinged shoulders, swivel-hinged elbows, swivel wrists, ball jointed torso, swivel-hinged hips, swivel thighs, hinged knees, hinged and rocker ankles.

Spoiler stands shorter than Harley Quinn and most other DC Multiverse figures, and is inspired by her appearance in DC Comics. She is sculpted in her black and purple outfit, with black covering most of the sculpt, and purple used for parts over the black. The purple parts of the costume include the cape, which is made of a soft plastic, hood, chest harness and belt, shoulders, forearms and hands, thighs and boots. The head sculpt is mostly covered with the hood, which is connected to the cape, and the black mask covering the mouth and nose. What is shown is the blonde hair, eyes and eye lashes. Her articulation includes a swivel neck, ball hinged shoulders, swivel biceps, swivel-hinged elbows, swivel-hinged wrists, ball jointed chest, swivel-hinged knees, swivel-hinged thighs, hinged knees, hinged and rocker ankles. Included with Spoiler is a long nunchuck with plastic chain links that allows some movement for customized posing, as well as a Darkseid head.

Overall, Harley Quinn and Spoiler are nice looking figures with a great likeness, sculpting and accessories. Of the two, Spoiler is our personal favorite, as the character makes her debut in Four Horsemen sculpting style.
