The Disney Store is now offering their Star Wars Toy Box TIE Fighter Vehicle and TIE Pilot figure as part of their Fall 2018 line-up. The TIE Fighter is the second vehicle to be offered in the Star Wars Toy Box line, as we also had the honor to review the Millennium Falcon with Han Solo and Chewbacca figures. This set is inspired from the Disney Infinity game likeness. With the TIE Fighter, the Disney Store has taken this line one step further and have offered yet another iconic Star Wars vehicle in this 5″ scale figure line. With these two now available, it’s very likely that other vehicles may see a release, such as General Grievous’ bike, AT-AT, Speeder Bikes, X-Wings, Y-Wing Bomber, Darth Vader’s X-Wing, Jawa Sandcrawler, Luke Skywalker’s Speeder, Armored Assault Tank and many other vehicles and playsets are likely candidates for this line as they all appeared in the game. In the game, franchises could interact throughout all of Disney’s properties such as Marvel, Star Wars and Disney/Pixar characters. Fans of that game can now collect highly detailed and articulated figures based on those designs.

Disney Infinity was Disney’s version of LEGO Dimensions, where franchises collide and characters can interact. These figures are loosely based on this game, and have been re-engineered and articulated to resemble the game’s likeness.
The TIE Fighter measures about 8″ length, to just over 7″ width, and almost 7 3/4″ in height. The TIE Fighter continues the new line of vehicles and playsets for The Disney Store, and this vehicle features both play value and makes one great display piece with the Toy Box line. This comes unassembled in the box with the wings requiring to be snapped on either side of the cockpit, and stay firmly on once connected. The back of the TIE Fighter features a handle, and once pressed the TIE Fighter spins around it and creates sound effects from the movies that fans will recall. There are also light-up features and additional blaster sound effects by pressing the button on the handle that’s located on top.
The wings of the TIE Fighter have a sculpted texture and pattern to it that has exceptional detail, which is featured on both sides of the wings. The wings also have additional detail at the center of the wings, which is all sculpted and part of the overall design as fans would recall from the movies and the Disney Infinity game. The wings share some of this detail on the other side as well, and the center connects to the wing attachment pylon.
The cockpit itself is exceptional detailed on the inside with pegs for the TIE Fighters feet on the bottom, with a seat, some interior details on the walls and below the main viewport. The main viewport is made of acrylic with nicely done sculpting and silver deco on the front of it that really makes it shine. The hatch opens up and there is a hinged clip that can hold the figure in place, but its optional if you wish to use it. The TIE Fighter Pilot cannot actually sit inside the TIE Fighter, and only has the option to stand with the hatch lip open. On either side of the viewport, are two missile launchers that fire by pressing the bottoms on top, which are located on either side of the hatch.
The TIE Pilot features some of the best sculpted as a figure in the Star Wars Toy Box line so far, and has a great likeness to him. The mask and upper arms have the stars painted on, and the mask is also connected to the tubes and life-support chest piece, which has some nicely done painted buttons. The helmet is relatively large on this figure as it should be, which is why Rebel pilots call them bucket heads. The figure is primarily cast in black, with the boots, gloves, belt, chest piece and helmet all done in a glossy finish. The TIE Pilot features a ball jointed neck, ball hinged shoulders, ball hinged elbows, swivel-hinged wrists, swivel waist, ball jointed hips, hinged knees, hinged and rocker ankles.
Overall, The TIE Fighter Vehicle and TIE Pilot are great offerings for the Star Wars Toy Box line, and features superior likeness and attention to detail that fans will love. Star Wars fans will definitely want to check out this vehicle, and add it to your collection today. At the time this review is published, all Toy Box figures are up to 30% off for Cyber Monday, so get going and start shopping!
