NECA Toys Alien Vs Predator – Arcade Appearance Predator Figures Review

The highly anticipated release of the Alien Vs Predator – Arcade Appearance Predator figures by NECA Toys are available now, and this line-up includes Hunter Predator, Mad Predator and Warrior Predator just as they were seen in the classic 1994 arcade game. The figures feature the 8-bit deco style of video games from that time, and includes a great likeness just as fans would expect. Additional offerings are coming, which includes the Alien figures and Dutch and Lynn figure 2-pack.

Thank you to NECA Toys for providing their Alien Vs Predator – Arcade Appearance Predator Figures for review.

Availability: January 2019

The Arcade Appearance Predator figures are packaged in a window box with artwork of the classic game, images of the figures on the sides, and a full view of the figure on the back along with the rest of the offerings inspired from the game. The figures are stored in plastic trays along with their accessories. This packaging can be saved for storage of the figures for a later time.

Warrior Predator is sculpted with the new Ultimate-style Predator body, while still maintaining his video game appearance and given bright deco along with the 8-bit deco. The body is a reuse of parts previously offered, and he has the fishnet over the skin, light and dark grey deco on the armor to resemble the 8-bit design, and includes sculpted details and textures, an opening left gauntlet opens up to reveal the computer inside, and the right gauntlet has a retractable double blade. The skin is painted in light brown and beige as seen in the game, and around his waist is armor and material that is painted to look like leather, which is painted in a dark brown wash over the black. The armor is nicely sculpted as previously seen, and the new deco makes the figure stand out especially as he has bright colors. The figure includes a shoulder mounted cannon, a spear, and a smartgun that also has the 8-bit deco painted on it. His head sculpt is also nicely done, and he has a non-removable mask painted in the 8-bit deco, and long hair around the back as previously offered. The articulation for the Warrior Predator is standard to the Predat0r line.

Mad Predator is sculpted with the new Ultimate-style Predator body, while still maintaining his video game appearance and given bright deco along with the 8-bit deco. The body is a reuse of parts previously offered, just like Warrior Predator above, and he has the fishnet over the skin, beige and dark brown deco on the armor to resemble the 8-bit design, and includes sculpted details and textures, an opening left gauntlet opens up to reveal the computer inside, and the right gauntlet has a retractable double blade. The skin is painted in light and dark blue as seen in the game, and around his waist is armor and material that is painted to look like leather, which is painted in a dark brown wash over the black. The armor is nicely sculpted as previously seen, and the new deco makes the figure stand out especially as he has bright colors. The figure includes a shoulder mounted cannon, face hugger and chestburster that also has the 8-bit deco painted on it. His head sculpt is also nicely done, and he has a unmasked head showcasing his face as also previously seen, but also is given the new 8-bit deco with the light and dark blue skin, along with painted teeth and fangs, black deco painted inside the mouth, and black hair around the back. He also has a skeleton trophy necklace around his neck. The articulation for the Mad Predator is standard to the Predat0r line.

Hunter Predator is sculpted with the new Ultimate-style Predator body, while still maintaining his video game appearance and given bright deco along with the 8-bit deco. The body is a reuse of parts previously offered, just like Warrior and Mad Predators above, and he has the fishnet over the skin, dark brown deco on the armor with a light brown wash over it to resemble the 8-bit design, and includes sculpted details and textures, an opening left gauntlet opens up to reveal the computer inside, and the right gauntlet has a retractable double blade. The skin is painted in light and dark brown as seen in the game. This figure has some newly sculpted parts for the armor, which includes the armor on his waist that includes a place to store his Shuriken, and this part of the armor is painted in black, dark and light green, with the holster for the Shuriek painted in a dark brown with a wash. The armor is nicely sculpted and parts of this are new, which includes the armor on the shoulders, and lower legs. The new armor has some nicely sculpted details and textures. The figure includes a shoulder mounted cannon that also appears to be newly sculpted, plasma rifle, a Shuriken and a spear that also has the 8-bit deco painted on it. His head sculpt is also nicely done, and he has a non-removable mask painted in the 8-bit deco, and long hair brown hair around the back as previously offered. The articulation for the Hunter Predator is standard to the Predat0r line.

Overall, the Arcade Appearance Predator figures are excellent and features great likenesses, superior deco with bright colors to pay tribute to the game, and great accessories. The new Ultimate-style Predator body works well on these figures, which has them stand about 8″ tall. NECA continues to offer such great looking figures, and we personally cannot wait until the Aliens, and the Dutch and Lynn 2-pack.
