The Crash Bandicoot Scuba Gear figure comes packaged in a large plastic clamshell, which is not resealable. The artwork on the package is similar to what has been offered before, including a underwater backdrop from the game, as well as an image of Crash on the back as well as additional figures released so far in this line.

to underwater levels. The figure stands 5.5 inches tall and features a unique head sculpt. Crash has plenty of articulation and looks like he swam right out of the game!

Crash Bandicoot stands at 6″ tall and is based on his appearance as seen in the classic Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped Playstation video game of the 1990’s. This figure has some of a reused sculpt from his first several releases, and includes a new head sculpt with a different facial expression, new swimming flippers and a brand new air tanks and tubes. Crash Bandicoot comes packed with sculpted textures on the fur that also gives it a realistic feel to it and less cartoony than fans are used too. The chest, top of his head and the ears have the most of the sculpted texture while the arms, legs and the face have less. The chest includes a belly button hole sculpted inward, and stands out as that is painted in a light brown, while that part of the chest is yellow. Sculpted over his legs are two shades of blue pants, with a white string tied in a knot on top, and his legs are only visible between the gap from his pants to newly sculpted oversized swimming flippers, that are painted in blue and green, with some purple deco in the back. There are also gloves over his hands that has the look and painted to look like leather, which is a nice touch. Most of the fur is painted in a brown and orange wash and has a great likeness to the video game. While the sculpt’s fur has textures that makes him look realistic, the deco keeps him looking cartoony.

The mouth piece is connected to his mouth, and the tubes are sculpted on either side of his shoulders and connected to the yellow tanks on his back. You can see his facial details on both sides of the mouth piece, but depending on the angle it is covered up by the tubes. The tubes and tanks are painted in yellow and black, with some scuffing details with orange and grey deco on the tanks. The tanks are also connected to the harness around his shoulders and waist, and cannot be removed. His goggles are also newly sculpted and represent the likenesses of a swimmers goggles, with the large window in the front and strap in the back of his head. The goggles prevent the eye brow articulation, which has been seen on some of the earlier releases of the figure shown in our gallery below. The swimmers flippers make it difficult to get him to stand, and the tanks made him a bit back heavy. He needs to be properly balanced for this to happen, but it will take a little patience and movement of the flippers to make it possible for him to stand.

Crash Bandicoot’s articulation includes a ball jointed neck, ball jointed torso, ball hinged shoulders, swivel-hinged elbows, swivel-hinged wrists, ball jointed hips, hinged legs, and ball jointed ankles.

Overall, Crash Bandicoot with Scuba Gear is an excellent figure and we love the amount of detail and sculpt that NECA Toys put into this release. The Scuba Gear and new head sculpt is the primary aspect of the figure that is otherwise a reuse of the existing figures, which is nicely done and has a great likeness to the game. If you are a fan of the game, and classic Playstation video games from the 1990’s, make sure to pick up each version of Crash, the new characters as stated above and of course Spyro the Dragon when he comes out.
