Disney Store Exclusive Marvel Toy Box Spider-Mobile & Spider-Man Figure Review

The Disney Store is offering their Marvel Toy Box The Spider-Mobile and Spider-Man Figure once more for those of you that missed out late last year when this set sold out during the holiday shopping season. The Spider-Mobile made its first debut in Marvel Comics in 1974 in Amazing Spider-Man #130. The Spider-Mobile features working headlights and sounds by pressing the buttons on the hood. This set was offered along with the Marvel Toy Box Hulkbuster Deluxe Figure Set that is also currently available.

The Toy Box figures are based on the Disney: Infinity game designs, and are re-engineered and articulated. In the game, franchises could interact throughout all of Disney’s properties such as Marvel, Star Wars and Disney/Pixar characters. Fans of that game can now collect highly detailed and articulated figures based on those designs.

Thank you to Disney and The Disney Store for providing their Exclusive Marvel Toy Box The Spider-Mobile & Spider-Man Figure for review.

Availability: October 2018 / April 2019

Disney: Infinity was Disney’s version of LEGO Dimensions, where franchises collide and characters can interact. These figures are loosely based on this game, and have been re-engineered and articulated to resemble the game’s likeness.

Spider-Man is given updated deco from the very first release that was offered along with Captain America, Iron Man and Hulk at the launch of this line, and is a repaint from the Miles Morales sculpt released over the holiday season in December. The new deco features brighter red and blue colors that fans are more used to seeing, and is given his classic look and design seen in the Disney: Infinity game. The bright colors works really well with the sculpt, and he has his spider logos on the front and back of the suit, with the head sculpt given the white eyes and black deco around them.

As opposed to the very first offering of Spider-Man, which is shown on the left in duller red and blue colors, as well as a unique figure sculpt, this new one is the one that you should be picking up, which is only available with the Spider-Mobile. The original release had official press images with brighter colors, and it would appear that the factory got it wrong at some point. While the first release is long sold out, you can grab this new one now while supplies last.

His articulation includes a ball jointed head, ball hinged shoulders, hinged elbows, swivel-hinged wrists, ball jointed hips, hinged knees, and hinged ankles.

Besides Spider-Man, the Spider-Mobile is obviously the primary selling point of the box set, which is loosely based on the Disney: Infinity game. The vehicle features working headlights and sounds by pressing the buttons on the hood. Along with the Millennium Falcon and the TIE Fighter, the Spider-Mobile is a historic release for the Disney Store as its in scale for their 5″ Toy Box figures, which you can mix and match and put any character(s) into the seats.

The Spider-Mobile measures roughly 11″ wide, and almost 5 1/2″ long, and can hold at least three figures, with two in the seats, and one standing on the back. While the Millennium Falcon can hold more figures, the Spider-Mobile is the second largest vehicle that can hold more than one figure.

The vehicle is painted in Spider-Man’s classic red and blue colors, with sculpted detailed such as the webbing on the sides of the vehicle, black rotation tires and steering wheel, silver pipes in the back, and silver rims. Spider-Man’s head is also at the center of the rims, which is a nice touch.

The figure placed on the back can stand on the two pegs on the dark grey platform, and this can lift up with a hidden compartment so that a taller figure can stand on the back, while holding the handle in front of him once the piece has been lifted.

The back of the vehicle also has a anchor that can rewind by pressing the bottom on top, and is attached to a string.

Overall, the Spider-Mobile and Spider-Man set is an excellent offering with a great likeness from the game that fans will surely love, as evidence to its original sell out during the holiday season. Marvel fans will definitely want to own this figure set, as this truly one of the best in the line so far. They are available to purchase right now along with many more Toy Box figures at The Disney Store.

An idea for Disney would be to offer the Deadbuggy with Deadpool and the Spideypool-Mobile with  Deadpool and Spider-Man, which the original Spider-Mobile was repainted by Deadpool and used to create his own version of the vehicle. Hopefully, we’ll see additional versions of this vehicle and others down the road.
