This version of Jason Voorhees was part of a planned reboot trilogy for a new generation of horror goers and fans, as well as the cult classic following from the original films. This film followed Clay Miller as he was searching for his missing sister, who ending up being captured by Jason Voorhees and kept alive all that time rather than killed along with her friends and every other person that Jason encountered. Despite hitting box office records including the highest-earning opening day for the film franchise and the highest-earning opening weekend for any horror film, the film never received a sequel and there has not been another remake, and there are no currently confirmed plans to make another reboot.
The 2009 film reimagined Jason in a different (but still terrifying) light, and this figure is extra-detailed to match. It features two interchangeable heads (one has a removable mask) and the all-new, extra-articulated Ultimate body, plus loads of accessories: machete, axe, fire poker, hammer and screwdriver.
Thank you to NECA Toys for providing their Friday The 13th – 2009 Ultimate Jason Voorhees figure for review.

Jason Voorhees is packaged in a window box with an opening flap, and includes artwork on the cover, sides, and images of the figure on the back and opening flap. The figure is packaged in a plastic tray with his accessories carefully stored around him.
Jason Voorhees is bigger, bulkier and more menacing looking compared to the versions of him that appeared in the classic trilogy, and this new rebooted design also gives him a new look that has never been done before, which includes long blonde hair. We know from the classic trilogy that Jason Voorhees was summoned from the Book of the Dead, which was the book that Ash Willaims used in Evil Dead, and we know that Jason is a demon, but not necessarily a Deadite. Assuming that the movie studio didn’t plan to change this part of the origin, this version is the most fierce looking design ever created.
The figure features such a remarkable likeness to the 2009 film, and includes sculpted details and textures on the black leather jacket, shirt, pants and sleeves. The jacket has sculpted patterns on the upper part of the back, which is also made of a separate piece that goes around the arms. The sleeves has some of the sculpted patterns as the back of the jacket, and the jacket has realistic folds and a wash over it. The shirt is dark green with some torn parts and a black wash over it, and also some realistic folds. The pants also have the sam level of detail, including torn parts by the knees, and there is a pouch hanging from the left hip that can store the machete.
Jason comes with two head sculpts, including one with a removable mask, and the facial details came out exceptionally well including the details on the eyes, mouth, and the hair. The right eye is white, while the left eye looks more normal. The hair is sculpted in strands and has a wash over it, and you see parts of the scalp on top, and the skin tone and sculpted detail includes sculpted textures. The mask is part of the classic design, and fits over the head and has a dark wash over it. The other head sculpt has a sack over it with the left eye showing through.
His articulation includes a ball jointed head, ball hinged shoulders, hinged-swivel elbows, swivel-hinged wrists, swivel waist, swivel-hinged hips, hinged-swivel knees, hinged and rocker ankles.
Included with Jason is a machete with a paint wash, an axe, a fire poker, a hammer and a screwdriver, in addition to the two head sculpts and mask.
Overall, Jason Voorhees is an excellent figure with a great sculpt and movie-accurate likeness. Fans should definitely pick this up as he’s currently in stores, and available online including the stores mentioned below.
