NECA Toys Halloween 2018 Ultimate Laurie Strode Figure Review

In 2018, Michael Myers returned to the cinema to once again captive audiences and horror movie goers. This film was a sequel to the original 1978 classic Halloween Movie, which saw the return of star Jamie Lee Curtis reprising her iconic role once more as well as the original co-creator John Carpenter as a composer, executive producer, and creative consultant. The film sees Michael Myers return to the Haddonfield 40 years after his original night of terror, and ignores every film that came after it.

This figure by NECA Toys joins the Ultimate line-up of highly detailed and articulated figures, and brings a much needed character to their offerings in recent years. For the first-time, NECA is adding the long awaited Laurie Strode figure to the line, which makes her debut to the company in this release.

Thank you to NECA Toys for providing their Halloween 2018 Ultimate Laurie Strode Figure for review.

Availability: June 2019

The packaging for Laurie Strode is a window box with artwork with images from the movie on the front, sides, and images of the figure and a brief description on the back. The box has an opening flap with an image of Laurie, and inside you see her backed away in her plastic tray surrounded by her accessories.

Laurie Strode is based on the likeness of Actress Jamie Lee Curtis, set 40 years after the first Halloween movie in 1978. The figure is the first of its kind to introduce the likeness of the Actress, and now joins NECA’s Ultimate 7″ scale line.

She is sculpted and painted in her dark grey zipper down jacket, with sculpted pockets and silver buttons, blue shirt, a brown belt with a silver belt buckle, black pants, and brown shoes with sculpted laces and silver loops in-between the laces. The clothing has realistic folds and details. On the left hip is a holster for her knife, with a strap that can plug in around the handle to hold it into place.

Her head sculpt is nicely done with an excellent likeness as part of their “realistic” 3D scanning technology. This includes nicely done facial paint applications with the eyes, eye lashes and mouth, as well as the long blonde grey hair with sculpted textures and a paint wash.

Laurie is given an assortment of accessories to fight her brother and protect her daughter and grand daughter as seen in the film. This includes a shotgun, a rifle, a pistol, a knife, an extra right hand to hold the knife, and an interchangeable head sculpt with glasses that are sculpted on.

Her articulation includes a ball jointed neck, ball hinged shoulders, double-hinged elbows, swivel wrists, ball jointed torso, ball jointed hips, swivel-hinged knees, hinged and rocker ankles.

Overall, NECA Toys have once again answered the calls of their fanbase and collectors and have given another great horror icon the plastic treatment, which came out exceptionally well. The figure has a realistic likeness to the film, great accessories, and we are so happy to finally finally have a Laurie Strode figure in the Ultimate collection.
